The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) successfully hosted an international guest lecture on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, designed to equip students for the global digital industry landscape. Held in Room D12 (3rd Floor) of the FMIPA UNNES campus, the event featured a prominent technology expert from Malaysia Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norisma Binti Idris from Universiti Malaya as the keynote speaker. Moderated by Devi Ajeng Efrilianda, S.Kom., M.Kom., the lecture, titled “Architecting Your Future: Tech Trends, Career Trajectories, and Choosing the Right Internship,” was attended by the Dean of FMIPA UNNES, Prof. Dr. Edy Cahyono, M.Si., along with faculty leadership, computer science lecturers, and hundreds of Informatics and Information Systems students from the Class of 2025.

This international-standard academic event was initiated as a strategic move to motivate students and provide them with a deep understanding of cutting-edge technology trends such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, and Software Engineering. Such education is considered crucial to ensure students do not merely remain spectators in this era of disruption; instead, they should be able to map out future career paths and tactically select internship partners that align with their long-term goals. Through this initiative, FMIPA UNNES demonstrates its commitment to bridging the gap between the academic curriculum and the actual demands of the global digital industry.

The main session was highly interactive; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norisma presented the core material, followed by a lively discussion during the Q&A session with students. Moving beyond theoretical presentation, the event continued with a technical briefing on the Universiti Malaya Mobility Programme, delivered by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and the Student Mobility Team. This mobility program offers UNNES students the opportunity to experience an international academic environment in Malaysia; the event concluded with a networking lunch designed to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions.

Holistically, this guest lecture serves as tangible evidence of FMIPA UNNES’s contribution to supporting the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event simultaneously integrates three key SDG objectives: SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing access to world-class learning regarding future technologies and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by producing job-ready graduates for the digital industry to drive economic growth. Finally, this cross-border student mobility initiative reflects a strengthening of SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through sustainable international academic collaboration within Southeast Asia.
