Related to SDGs
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) collaborated with PAMA Group to plant 2,000 mangrove seedlings in the coastal area of Mangunharjo, Tugu District, Semarang, on Thursday, May 25, 2026.
The program was carried out in collaboration with the Mangrove Lestari Farmer Group, which provided seedlings and technical guidance throughout the planting process. This collaboration between academia, industry, and the community represents a concrete effort to support coastal ecosystem rehabilitation and climate change mitigation.
The mangrove planting activity was part of the Media Gathering PAMA Group 2026, which promotes sustainability initiatives. In addition to strengthening relationships with stakeholders, the program contributes directly to restoring coastal areas affected by abrasion.
The presence of PAMA Group leadership highlighted the company’s commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development. Meanwhile, representatives from UNNES, including faculty leaders and conservation teams, actively participated in the activity.
Students from various study programs were also involved, gaining hands-on experience in environmental conservation practices. Their participation is expected to foster greater environmental awareness and responsibility.
Beyond planting, the activity also provided education on the importance of mangrove ecosystems. Mangroves play a crucial role in preventing coastal erosion, absorbing carbon, and supporting biodiversity.
Through this cross-sector collaboration, FMIPA UNNES reaffirmed its commitment to conservation programs based on strategic partnerships, aiming to deliver long-term benefits for coastal sustainability and community welfare.
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
