The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) successfully organized the 1st Global Conference on Environmental, Energy, and Natural Resources Innovation for Sustainable Development (GREENOVA) 2026 on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Aston Inn Pandanaran, Semarang.
This international conference provided a collaborative platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from various countries to develop innovations in environmental, energy, and natural resource sectors for sustainable development.
The event was officially opened by the Rector of UNNES, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., followed by remarks from the conference chair, Rifa’atunnisa, Ph.D., who emphasized that GREENOVA serves as a multidisciplinary forum that promotes cross-sector collaboration in addressing global challenges.
GREENOVA 2026 was organized in collaboration with IPB University as co-host and Universiti Malaysia Sabah as a partner, strengthening global research networks and international academic contributions.
The conference gathered 108 participants from multiple countries, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, India, Kenya, Hungary, and the United Kingdom, highlighting its global significance.
Keynote speakers presented innovative perspectives on topics such as forest ecosystem dynamics, biomaterials for sustainable industries, and landscape ecology approaches for water resource management, showcasing the importance of scientific innovation in addressing global environmental challenges.
Beyond research dissemination, the conference also enhances international collaboration in developing sustainable technologies, policies, and innovations. Selected papers will be published in reputable journals, expanding the global scientific impact.
Through GREENOVA 2026, FMIPA UNNES reinforced its role as a hub for sustainable scientific innovation, aiming to generate research-based solutions for global sustainable development.
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
