Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Negeri Semarang (FISIP UNNES) mendorong penguatan perlindungan konsumen di Jawa Tengah melalui pemanfaatan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT) bersama Badan Penyelesaian Sengketa Konsumen dan Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Jawa Tengah.

Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan pada 6 Oktober 2025 tersebut bertajuk “Strategi IoT (Internet of Things) dalam Perlindungan Konsumen di Era Digital” dilaksanakan oleh tim yang dipimpin Dr. Wahyu Beny Mukti Setiyawan, S.H., M.H., bersama Bambang Hermanto, S.Pd., M.IP., Bambang Rakhmanto, M.Hum., dan Yan Amal Abdilah, S.Pd., M.Pd., serta melibatkan mahasiswa, tenaga kependidikan, dan alumni FISIP UNNES.

Program ini berangkat dari semakin kompleksnya persoalan perlindungan konsumen dalam transaksi digital. Penipuan daring, penyalahgunaan data pribadi, serta transaksi yang tidak transparan menjadi tantangan yang membutuhkan pengawasan lebih adaptif. Karena itu, tim FISIP UNNES bersama mitra membahas pemanfaatan IoT sebagai salah satu instrumen untuk memperkuat pemantauan dan memberikan peringatan dini terhadap potensi pelanggaran hak konsumen.

Kegiatan berlangsung di lingkungan BPSK Kota Semarang, Jalan Erlangga Barat 7, Pleburan, Semarang Selatan, dengan melibatkan aparatur dan pemangku kepentingan perlindungan konsumen. Rangkaian kegiatan mencakup diskusi kelompok terarah, peningkatan literasi digital, pengenalan IoT, simulasi pemanfaatan perangkat, serta penyusunan modul perlindungan konsumen digital.

Melalui forum tersebut, persoalan yang selama ini dihadapi aparatur dan konsumen dibahas secara langsung, mulai dari rendahnya literasi digital, belum optimalnya sistem pengawasan transaksi, hingga kebutuhan mekanisme pengaduan yang lebih responsif. Diskusi kemudian diarahkan pada pengembangan model pemantauan berbasis teknologi yang dapat mendukung kerja lembaga perlindungan konsumen.

Salah satu hasil penting kegiatan adalah tersusunnya rumusan bersama mengenai konsep pemantauan transaksi digital berbasis IoT serta rekomendasi kebijakan praktis untuk mendukung perdagangan digital yang lebih transparan. Tim juga memperkenalkan prototipe awal IoT sebagai model konseptual untuk pemantauan dan peringatan dini terhadap potensi pelanggaran konsumen.

Keterlibatan Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Provinsi Jawa Tengah memberikan ruang agar hasil kegiatan tidak berhenti pada pelatihan teknis. Mitra berperan menyediakan data, peserta, fasilitas, dan masukan mengenai kebutuhan daerah, sementara tim UNNES menyediakan tenaga ahli, materi, modul, demonstrasi teknologi, evaluasi, dan rekomendasi tindak lanjut. Inspektorat Provinsi Jawa Tengah juga ditempatkan dalam jejaring kegiatan untuk memberikan masukan terkait regulasi dan kebijakan perlindungan konsumen.

Hasil monitoring menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta mengenai konsep IoT dan penggunaannya dalam perlindungan konsumen. Masukan selama kegiatan kemudian dirumuskan menjadi rekomendasi lanjutan, termasuk kebutuhan pendampingan teknis, pengembangan media pembelajaran digital, serta penyediaan perangkat IoT sederhana yang dapat digunakan secara berkelanjutan.
