Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Universitas Negeri Semarang (FISIP UNNES) melalui tim Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi mendorong penguatan kapasitas pelaku usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (UMKM) melalui pelatihan komunikasi bisnis, digital marketing, dan complaint handling. Kegiatan berlangsung pada Rabu, 18 Juni 2025, di Balai Koperasi dan UMKM Semarang dan diikuti sekitar 45 pelaku UMKM muda dari berbagai sektor usaha.

Program bertajuk “Peningkatan Kompetensi Komunikasi Bisnis dan Complaint Handling bagi Pelaku UMKM pada Komunitas Young Entrepreneur Success (YES) di Kota Semarang” dipimpin oleh Restu Ayu Mumpuni, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom., bersama Dr. Ferani Mulianingsih, M.Pd., Hany Nurpratiwi, M.Pd., dan Ayu Wulansari Pramita, S.Si., M.T. Tiga mahasiswa FISIP UNNES, yakni Wiranisa Bellatrix Sinaga, Camelia Putri, dan Tubagus Ghaizan Altaf, turut mendukung pelaksanaan program.

Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui kolaborasi dengan Dinas Koperasi dan UMKM Provinsi Jawa Tengah serta komunitas Young Entrepreneur Success (YES). Para peserta berasal dari beragam bidang usaha, antara lain kuliner, fesyen, jasa, dan kerajinan.

Bantuan yang diberikan kepada pelaku UMKM tidak berbentuk uang tunai, tetapi berupa pelatihan, pendampingan, serta perangkat pengetahuan untuk memperkuat pengelolaan usaha. Peserta mendapatkan materi mengenai penyusunan standar operasional prosedur penanganan keluhan pelanggan, komunikasi bisnis, layanan pelanggan berbasis digital, pemanfaatan media sosial dan e-commerce, hingga optimalisasi fitur customer service.

Tim pengabdian juga menyiapkan berbagai perangkat yang dapat digunakan secara langsung oleh pelaku usaha, antara lain SOP penanganan keluhan pelanggan, materi pelatihan dan video tutorial, template komunikasi untuk layanan pelanggan, serta panduan penggunaan fitur customer service pada platform digital.

Pelatihan dirancang secara interaktif. Peserta tidak hanya menerima materi, tetapi juga mengikuti simulasi, diskusi, role play, dan praktik menghadapi berbagai situasi keluhan pelanggan. Melalui kegiatan tersebut, para pelaku UMKM didorong untuk memahami bahwa kemampuan merespons pelanggan secara cepat, empatik, dan profesional merupakan salah satu faktor penting dalam menjaga kepercayaan dan keberlanjutan usaha.

Salah satu materi praktis yang diberikan kepada peserta dikemas melalui booklet berjudul “Skill Komunikasi UMKM di Era Digital Biar Bisnis Makin Nge-Hits!”. Materi tersebut dirancang agar peserta dapat menerapkan strategi komunikasi dan penanganan pelanggan secara langsung dalam aktivitas usaha sehari-hari.

Kegiatan ini memperoleh dukungan pendanaan sebesar Rp5.500.000 dari DPA FISIP UNNES Tahun 2025. Nilai tersebut merupakan pembiayaan keseluruhan program pengabdian, bukan bantuan tunai yang dibagikan kepada masing-masing peserta.

Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan kesadaran peserta mengenai pentingnya sistem complaint handling, komunikasi bisnis, serta pemanfaatan platform digital untuk memperkuat hubungan dengan pelanggan. Program juga diarahkan agar peserta mampu mengembangkan sistem layanan pelanggan yang lebih baik dan menjaga daya saing usahanya di tengah perkembangan ekonomi digital.
