Semarang, Indonesia – September 24, 2023 – In response to the escalating concerns surrounding environmental degradation, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has taken a proactive step by forming the Conservation Cadre Group. This initiative aims to harness the growing enthusiasm among students towards environmental issues and channel it into constructive action.
The formation and training of Conservation Cadres were officially launched on September 24, 2023, at the FEB UNNES campus. This initiative signifies the commitment of FEB UNNES to address pressing environmental challenges by nurturing a cadre of dedicated individuals equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a positive impact.
Explaining the rationale behind the initiative, Muhammad Feriady, S.Pd., M.Pd., the head of the Conservation Group, stated, “With environmental issues becoming increasingly prevalent, it is imperative for educational institutions to play a proactive role in fostering environmental stewardship among students. By establishing the Conservation Cadre Group, we aim to empower students to become advocates for environmental conservation within our university community and beyond.”
The selection process for Conservation Cadres was rigorous and comprehensive, focusing on both the candidates’ knowledge of environmental issues and their passion for conservation efforts. Following a thorough recruitment process, selected cadres underwent intensive training, which included not only seminars but also hands-on practical sessions covering waste management, recycling techniques, and other relevant topics.
“The training provided to our Conservation Cadres goes beyond theoretical knowledge. We believe in equipping them with practical skills that they can apply in real-world scenarios,” remarked Inaya Sari Melati, S.Pd., M.Pd., one of the trainers involved in the program. “Our goal is to nurture a cadre of environmentally conscious individuals who are capable of leading by example and inspiring others to adopt sustainable practices.”
Through the Conservation Cadre Group, FEB UNNES aims to instill a sense of environmental responsibility among its students and contribute to broader efforts aimed at environmental conservation and sustainability. By mobilizing the enthusiasm and dedication of its students, FEB UNNES seeks to make a tangible difference in the ongoing fight against environmental degradation.
