The Semarang International Illustration Festival (SIIF) 2023 is holding its fourth fine arts exhibition, 2-8 September 2023, at the Galeri Seni Rupa, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Semarang. The exhibition featured a collaboration with the Asia Southeast Digital Art Society (ASEDAS) at BINUS University.

Raihan Dzaky Anwar, a DKV student organising the activity, said this exhibition carried the theme “Gotong Royong”. The exhibition series was filled with various activities, ranging from Doodle Duel, Drawing Competitions, Cosplay Events, Fun Games, Art Performances, Design Clinic Charity to the DKV Award.

On the other hand, the exhibition presents 97 illustration works from a selection of 200 entries. Apart from competition activities, there are also workshops. On the first day after opening, there was a workshop on comic strips.

The Coordinator of the DKV Study Program, Dr Rahina Nugrahani, said that the SIIF also signed an IA between FBS UNNES and ASEDAS and eight campuses from Malaysia, which were also contributors to the exhibition.

SIIF was first held in 2017. SIIF also held a bold exhibition due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2023, for the first time, SIIF will again hold an attractive exhibition. Preparations for the exhibition in 2023 were only carried out in 1.5 months. “Even though there are a few problems with the website being inactive. The website is for uploading works of international standard, but the committee managed to overcome this problem,” said Raihan.

Visitors looked enthusiastic about watching the fine art exhibition. Nabela Putri Nilla Saroya, a student at the FEB UNNES Office Administration Education Study Program, admitted that this was the first time she had visited such an exhibition. Namala was amazed by the illustration work presented and the various activities held on the first day. Nabila said she wanted to visit the exhibition again.

According to Raihan, even though it was prepared within a limited time, the activities could be held according to schedule. “Efforts so far have produced very good results and visitor enthusiasm,” said Raihan. Raihan also hopes that in the future, he can hold a bigger exhibition and be attended by more visitors. (Winarsih/FBS UNNES Public Relations Student Staff/*)
