The Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) was established with the mission of producing competent, professional, and competitive educators in the field of Indonesian language and literature. Since its establishment, the Study Program has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and the continuous development of education, research, and community engagement in Indonesian language and literature studies.
Supported by experienced academic staff, including professors and lecturers holding doctoral qualifications, as well as strengthened by extensive institutional partnerships and collaborative networks at national and international levels, the Study Program has positioned itself as one of the leading Indonesian Language and Literature Education programs in Indonesia.
Guided by the slogan “Glorifying the Nation Through Language and Literature,” the Study Program consistently promotes the advancement of knowledge, values, and innovation in the fields of language and literature. It is dedicated to nurturing students’ academic, professional, and personal capacities, while contributing to the preservation, development, and dissemination of Indonesian language and literary culture in response to contemporary educational and societal challenges.

The study program has led me to become Prof. Dr. RUSTONO, M.Hum., a lecturer at FBS Unnes, former dean of FBS, and now the Head of the S2 and S3 Study Program of Indonesian Language Education at Unnes.
Led by the leaders of this study program, it has produced graduates with solid character. –MUHAMAD SAFII, Principal of SMP Negeri 1 Karangrayung Purwodadi, Outstanding Teacher in 2004.
I got a lot of things from the PBSI Department. The knowledge and experience gained from language and literature activities have become the basic capital I share with students, friends, teachers at school, and at MGMP, and my students at PGSD UT. The relationship and communication that continues to be established with PBSI lecturers to keep up with the development of language and literature has further strengthened me in various sciences and knowledge, especially language and literature —SEPTININGSIH, M.Pd., Principal of SMP N Bobotsari, Purbalingga.
