In accordance with the vision of becoming a world-reputable university, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) continues to be committed to its position internationally. This time three Study Programs at the Faculty of Engineering proposed to get international accreditation from Akkreditiersungsagentur Fur Studiengange der ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und Mathematics (ASIIN). The three study programs are chemical engineering education, mechanical engineering education, and automotive engineering education.

ASIIN is an independent institution based in Germany that carries out quality assurance of degree programs in disciplines including Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics. In 2000, ASIIN was granted the right to stamp accreditation from the German Accreditation Council. In addition, ASIIN has also been registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR), where EQAR itself has been included in the list of accreditation registers recognized in Indonesia.

The ASIIN accreditation visitation activity lasted three days, Monday – Wednesday (29/4-1/5). An ASIIN assessor team participates in the series of activities—the team consisting of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joachim Frech, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dirk Nissing, Prof. Ir. Johnner P. Sitompul, M.Sc., Ph.D., Mr. Reizaldi Gustino, Mr. Hariyadi, and Dr. Michael Meyer were present to evaluate three excellent study programs of the faculty of engineering.

Present at the opening of this activity were the Rector of UNNES, the Vice-Rectors, the leaders and Directors, and the Deans of the Faculty of Engineering.

In his speech, UNNES Rector, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., welcomed the assessors and ASIIN visitation activity. Prof. Martono hopes that the visitation activity, which lasted for three days, will run smoothly and yield satisfactory results.

The visitation activities on the first day began with a thorough question and answer session conducted by ASIIN peer review with university managers, faculties, and study programs, and the second day continued with a question and answer session with students, alums, partners, and lecturers, while on the last day facilities and laboratories were checked.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wirawan Sumbodo, M.T., expressed his hope that through ASIIN accreditation, the reputation of the study program could be increased at the world level, in line with the vision and mission of UNNES and the Faculty of Engineering to become a World-reputable, pioneer of educational brilliance, and conservation-minded university.
