Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) consistently demonstrates its institutional commitment to advancing the social aspects of sustainability by providing annual dedicated training for academic staff through structured programs such as PEKERTI (Peningkatan Keterampilan Dasar Teknik Instruksional) and Applied Approach (AA). These programs integrate key social sustainability values, including inclusive education, equity, and quality teaching practices, ensuring that lecturers are well-equipped to deliver impactful and responsible higher education.

Throughout 2025, these training initiatives were conducted in multiple batches, both onsite and online, reflecting UNNES’s continuous efforts to strengthen lecturers’ competencies in fostering inclusive and student-centered learning environments.

Applied Approach Training for UNNES Lecturers (21–24 January 2025)

UNNES initiated its annual training programs with the Applied Approach (AA) training held from 21 to 24 January 2025. This program was designed to enhance lecturers’ pedagogical competencies, particularly in developing effective, student-centered, and inclusive learning methods. Through this training, lecturers were equipped with strategies that support equitable learning environments and improve the quality of higher education delivery.

MOOC PEKERTI Batch 26 (24–28 February 2025)

In February 2025, UNNES conducted MOOC PEKERTI Batch 26 as part of its continuous effort to strengthen the foundation of inclusive, fair, and high-quality higher education. Delivered online, this program expanded access to training and emphasized the importance of instructional techniques that promote equal opportunities for all students.

PEKERTI Training at AKPOL (21–25 April 2025)

UNNES extended its training outreach by organizing PEKERTI training at the Indonesian Police Academy (AKPOL) from 21 to 25 April 2025. This program focused on improving teaching competencies among academic staff while integrating inclusive and sustainable education principles beyond the UNNES campus.

MOOC Applied Approach Batch 10 (6–9 May 2025)

The MOOC Applied Approach Batch 10, conducted online in May 2025, further strengthened lecturers’ teaching competencies through digital learning platforms. This initiative reflects UNNES’s commitment to accessible and flexible training systems that support continuous professional development.

MOOC PEKERTI Batch 27 (16–20 June 2025)

In June 2025, UNNES held MOOC PEKERTI Batch 27, focusing on enhancing lecturers’ instructional competencies through interactive and inclusive learning approaches. The program reinforced the importance of equitable teaching practices in higher education.

Onsite PEKERTI Training for UNNES Lecturers (7–11 July 2025)

UNNES also conducted onsite PEKERTI training for its lecturers in July 2025, involving 40 participants. This program emphasized practical teaching skills, collaborative learning, and the creation of supportive academic environments that align with social sustainability values.

PEKERTI Training for Politeknik PU (21–25 July 2025)

Further expanding its impact, UNNES delivered PEKERTI training for lecturers from Politeknik Pekerjaan Umum in Semarang. This initiative demonstrates UNNES’s role in disseminating sustainable teaching practices across institutions.

MOOC PEKERTI Batch 28 (28 July – 1 August 2025)

UNNES continued its online training series with MOOC PEKERTI Batch 28, providing accessible professional development opportunities while reinforcing inclusive and student-centered learning approaches.

Applied Approach Training for AKPOL Educators (5–8 August 2025)

In August 2025, UNNES conducted an online Applied Approach training for educators at AKPOL. This program further highlighted the university’s commitment to promoting equitable and effective teaching practices across diverse educational institutions.

PEKERTI Training for Universitas Bangka Belitung Batch 1 (11–15 August 2025)

UNNES organized online PEKERTI training for Universitas Bangka Belitung (Batch 1), focusing on strengthening lecturers’ competencies in delivering inclusive and quality education.

PEKERTI Training for Universitas Bangka Belitung Batch 2 (8–12 September 2025)

The second batch of PEKERTI training for Universitas Bangka Belitung was conducted in September 2025, ensuring continuity in capacity building and reinforcing sustainable teaching practices.

MOOC PEKERTI Batch 31 (15–19 September 2025)

UNNES concluded this series with MOOC PEKERTI Batch 31, which adopted an interactive learning approach to further enhance lecturers’ competencies in inclusive and equitable education.

Through these continuous and structured training programs conducted throughout the year, UNNES clearly demonstrates that it provides annual and ongoing dedicated training on the social aspects of sustainability for academic staff. By integrating inclusive pedagogy, equitable access, and student-centered approaches into its training, UNNES ensures that its educators contribute actively to building a sustainable and socially responsible higher education system.
