Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), through its Conservation Subdirectorate, in collaboration with the Semarang City Environmental Agency (DLH), successfully held an environmental campaign to commemorate World Earth Day, which is observed annually on April 22. The campaign took place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Car Free Day area of Simpang Lima, Semarang, and involved various community groups.

The campaign served as a concrete manifestation of UNNES’ commitment as a conservation-minded university to raising public awareness of the importance of protecting the Earth. The event received positive enthusiasm from the community, as reflected in the active participation of residents who listened to the campaign messages and engaged directly with the volunteers.
An environmental campaign speech was delivered by Dr. Ir. Ananto Aji, M.S., Head of the Character Values, Arts, and Culture Section of the UNNES Conservation Subdirectorate. In his remarks, he emphasized that World Earth Day should serve as a shared moment of reflection to strengthen environmental awareness through real actions, such as saving energy, reducing waste, and preserving the environment sustainably.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Nana Kariada Tri Martuti, M.Si., Head of the UNNES Conservation Subdirectorate, reminded participants that environmental challenges cannot be addressed individually. She highlighted the importance of collaboration and consistent environmentally friendly behavior in daily life as a real contribution to preserving the Earth for future generations.
The campaign was also supported by several parties, including Yayasan Akar Banir, Green Community Biology UNNES, UKM Konservasi, SDGs Center UNNES, and the UNNES Conservation Team.
In line with the spirit of World Earth Day 2026, this activity contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13: Climate Action, through environmental education and public awareness campaigns.
