The Alumni Association of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang (IKA FISIP UNNES), has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting students’ educational continuity by awarding scholarships to ten FISIP UNNES students.

The scholarship presentation was held on Friday, 31 July 2026, in Meeting Room 202 on the second floor of the Prof. Dr. A.T. Soegito Building, FISIP UNNES. The scholarships were formally presented by the Chairperson of IKA FISIP UNNES, Dr. Kusno, S.Pd., M.Si., who currently serves as Head of the Senior Secondary Education Division at the Central Java Provincial Education Office and previously served as Principal of SMAN 1 Semarang.

The event formed part of the Faculty’s official agenda and was attended by faculty leaders, representatives of the alumni association, and the student scholarship recipients.

The scholarship programme represents a tangible expression of alumni support for their alma mater. It is also intended to assist students in completing their studies without being hindered by financial difficulties. The continued involvement of alumni in university life demonstrates that the relationship between graduates and the institution remains strong through programmes that provide direct benefits to students.

During the event, Dr. Kusno emphasised that education is a long-term investment that requires support from all elements of society, including university alumni. He stated that students’ success is determined not only by their academic abilities but also by the presence of a supportive environment that provides opportunities for personal and professional growth.

“We hope that this assistance will encourage our students to remain committed to learning, achieving excellence, and completing their studies successfully. Alumni have a moral responsibility to continue supporting the development of their alma mater and to help the next generation gain better access to educational opportunities,” he said.

For the recipients, the scholarships provide more than financial assistance. They also serve as motivation to improve academic performance and contribute meaningfully to society. The students expressed hope that similar programmes would continue in the future, enabling more students to complete their education successfully.

The IKA FISIP UNNES Scholarship Programme also reflects the strong sense of solidarity and family values maintained among alumni. Through this meaningful contribution, alumni not only provide material support but also demonstrate that professional success should be accompanied by concern for and investment in future generations.

This initiative is aligned with Universitas Negeri Semarang’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. The scholarship programme directly contributes to SDG 1, No Poverty, and SDG 4, Quality Education, by improving access to inclusive and high-quality higher education for students in need.

The programme also supports SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities, by helping to minimise disparities in educational opportunities caused by financial limitations. Furthermore, the collaboration between FISIP UNNES and its alumni association represents the implementation of SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, through a sustainable partnership between the university and its graduates to strengthen educational quality and human resource development.

Driven by the spirit of mutual cooperation and social responsibility, the programme demonstrates the strategic role of alumni in creating a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable educational ecosystem.
