The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), continues to strengthen efforts to create a safe, inclusive, and sexual-violence-free academic environment through education and student awareness initiatives.

This effort was carried out through the MIPA Aware program, organized by the BEM FMIPA UNNES Department of Sexual Violence and Mental Health Support on May 2, 2026. The activity was attended by FMIPA UNNES students and focused on understanding mental health issues and sexual violence prevention, featuring Iis Amalia, M.Psi., a Psychologist from the Semarang City DP3A, as the speaker.

In addition to MIPA Aware, sexual violence prevention education was also provided to new students through the 2026 FMIPA UNNES Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB), held on August 13–14, 2026. As part of the program, new students were given a mandatory assignment to create posters on sexual violence. This assignment served as a creative educational approach to introduce sexual violence prevention issues from the beginning of students’ university experience.

Through these two activities, students gained knowledge about the forms and prevention of sexual violence and the importance of building awareness of the issue within the campus environment. The educational activities also encouraged students to understand the importance of respecting personal boundaries, developing healthy relationships, and contributing to a safe and respectful academic environment.

The implementation of MIPA Aware and the PKKMB educational activity has had positive impacts, including increased student awareness of sexual violence issues, greater understanding of prevention, and the development of a safer and more inclusive campus culture. Introducing these issues to new students also helps establish preventive awareness from the beginning of their academic journey, encouraging students not only to receive information but also to contribute to creating an academic environment free from sexual violence. These activities support SDG 5: Gender Equality, particularly through education and the prevention of gender-based violence in educational settings. They also strengthen FMIPA UNNES’s commitment to creating a safe, equitable, and supportive educational environment for the entire academic community.
