Mahasiswa Giat UNNES Demonstrasikan Eco-enzyme, Edukasi Pengolahan Sampah Organik

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) melalui Tim KKN GIAT 16 Kesehatan mengedukasi masyarakat mengenai pengelolaan sampah organik melalui demonstrasi pembuatan eco-enzyme. Kegiatan yang berlangsung di Balai Desa Sumber Jatipohon, Kecamatan Grobogan, Kabupaten Grobogan ini bertujuan mengenalkan pemanfaatan limbah organik rumah tangga menjadi cairan serbaguna yang ramah lingkungan (30/6).

Program kerja tersebut dilaksanakan sebagai respons terhadap permasalahan pengelolaan sampah di Desa Sumber Jatipohon. Kebiasaan membuang sampah ke sungai serta membakar sampah masih ditemukan di lingkungan masyarakat sehingga berpotensi menimbulkan pencemaran air dan udara.

“Sedikit masyarakat yang memiliki kebiasaan membakar sampah. Namun, kebanyakan masih membuang sampah ke sungai,” ujar Santi, warga Dusun Krajan 1, Desa Sumber Jatipohon.

Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, Tim KKN GIAT 16 Kesehatan Desa Sumber Jatipohon yang didampingi Dosen Pengampu Lapangan, Dr. sc. hum. Chatila Maharani, S.T., M.Kes., menyelenggarakan demonstrasi pembuatan eco-enzyme sebagai salah satu upaya mendorong pengolahan sampah organik yang lebih ramah lingkungan sekaligus mengurangi pencemaran akibat sampah.

Demonstrasi dilaksanakan bersamaan dengan kegiatan rutin TP-PKK Desa Sumber Jatipohon yang diikuti 36 peserta. Kegiatan diawali dengan pengenalan jenis-jenis sampah beserta dampaknya terhadap lingkungan, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penjelasan mengenai eco-enzyme, bahan-bahan yang digunakan, serta manfaatnya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Eco-enzyme merupakan cairan hasil fermentasi sampah organik dapur, seperti kulit buah, sayuran, dan gula merah. Cairan ini dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pembersih lantai, penjernih air tercemar, pupuk organik cair, hingga pestisida dan insektisida alami.

Pada sesi praktik, Tim KKN GIAT 16 Kesehatan mendemonstrasikan tahapan pembuatan eco-enzyme bersama salah seorang peserta. Proses tersebut meliputi pencampuran kulit buah, sayuran, dan cairan gula ke dalam wadah tertutup untuk kemudian difermentasi. Peserta juga memperoleh berbagai tips agar proses fermentasi dapat berhasil dilakukan secara mandiri di rumah.

Untuk memperkuat pemahaman peserta, tim turut membagikan leaflet yang memuat informasi mengenai sampah organik, pengenalan eco-enzyme, tahapan pembuatan, manfaat, serta contoh penerapannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Ketua TP-PKK Desa Sumber Jatipohon, Rumining, mengapresiasi kegiatan tersebut karena memberikan pengetahuan baru yang dapat langsung diterapkan oleh masyarakat.

“Kegiatan demonstrasi eco-enzyme sangat baik, berguna sekali bagi kami ibu-ibu rumah tangga. Materi yang diberikan merupakan pengetahuan baru sehingga dapat dipraktikkan secara mandiri di rumah,” ujarnya.

Program kerja ini terselenggara atas dukungan Pusat Pengembangan Kuliah Kerja Nyata LPPM UNNES serta sinergi dengan Pemerintah Desa Sumber Jatipohon. Kegiatan ini juga menjadi wujud implementasi tagline “Bersama UNNES GIAT, Membangun Indonesia dari Desa.”

Melalui kegiatan tersebut, Tim KKN GIAT 16 Kesehatan UNNES berharap masyarakat dapat menerapkan pengolahan sampah organik secara mandiri sehingga mampu mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan akibat sampah sekaligus mendukung Program Pokok PKK ke-9 tentang Kelestarian Lingkungan Hidup.
