Pusat-pusat kajian di lingkungan Universitas Negeri Semarang memfokuskan pengembangan penelitian sesuai dengan bidang keahlian, kelembagaan dan kekhasan berdasarkan fungsinya.

Fungsi pusat kajian adalah sebagai wadah yang menyelenggarakan berbagai kegiatan penelitian dan pengkajian dosen dari berbagai bidang ilmu, program studi dan fakultas di lingkungan UNNES, dalam pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, seni dan sosial humaniora.
