Inovasi Kemasan Jamu Lokal, UNNES GIAT 16 Dukung UMKM Desa Lebo

Potensi jamu tradisional yang dikembangkan masyarakat Desa Lebo, Kecamatan Gringsing, Kabupaten Batang, mendapat dukungan mahasiswa Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) GIAT 16. Mahasiswa melakukan kunjungan ke UMKM Rempah Kuno Asli Jowo pada Minggu (9/8/2026) untuk mengenal proses produksi sekaligus mendukung pengembangan produk melalui inovasi kemasan.

Dalam kegiatan tersebut, mahasiswa menggali informasi mengenai perjalanan usaha Rempah Kuno Asli Jowo yang telah dirintis sejak 2020. Mahasiswa juga mengikuti secara langsung proses pengolahan rempah hingga menjadi jamu serbuk.

Proses produksi diawali dengan pengeringan rempah menggunakan oven agar lebih tahan lama. Rempah kemudian diolah menjadi sari, dicampurkan dengan larutan gula, dan diproses menggunakan mesin selama kurang lebih 55 menit hingga menghasilkan jamu berbentuk serbuk. Bentuk serbuk menjadi salah satu upaya menghadirkan jamu tradisional yang lebih praktis dan mudah dikonsumsi.

Seiring perkembangannya, pemasaran produk yang semula dilakukan melalui sistem titip jual di berbagai toko kini berkembang hingga memiliki gerai offline di Desa Krengseng, Kecamatan Gringsing. Perkembangan tersebut menjadi bagian dari upaya pelaku usaha mempertahankan produk jamu sekaligus menyesuaikannya dengan kebutuhan konsumen.

Selain mendokumentasikan proses produksi, Tim GIAT 16 turut mendukung pengembangan identitas produk melalui desain kemasan dan label. Salah satu inovasi yang dikembangkan berupa kemasan saset sebagai alternatif dari kemasan botol yang sebelumnya digunakan. Kemasan tersebut diharapkan dapat memberikan pilihan yang lebih praktis dan ekonomis bagi konsumen.

Pemilik Rempah Kuno Asli Jowo, Ana Mustafidhah, mengatakan salah satu tantangan dalam mengembangkan produk jamu adalah mempertahankan keberadaannya di tengah masyarakat yang semakin terbiasa dengan produk praktis.

“Tantangan kami terutama bagaimana peninggalan-peninggalan kuno yang harus dilestarikan ini tetap bisa diterima di zaman sekarang. Orang sekarang sudah modern dan cenderung memilih sesuatu yang instan dan cepat. Kadang jamu dianggap kuno. Karena itu, kami mencoba membuat produk dalam bentuk serbuk yang lebih modern dan praktis,” ujarnya.

Melalui kegiatan tersebut, Tim GIAT 16 KKN Desa Lebo berharap inovasi produk dan kemasan dapat membantu memperkuat identitas Rempah Kuno Asli Jowo sekaligus memperluas pengenalan produk kepada masyarakat. Kegiatan ini juga menjadi bentuk dukungan mahasiswa terhadap pengembangan UMKM berbasis potensi lokal.

Kegiatan tersebut sejalan dengan Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 8 tentang Pekerjaan Layak dan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi melalui dukungan terhadap pengembangan usaha masyarakat serta SDGs 9 tentang Industri, Inovasi, dan Infrastruktur melalui penerapan inovasi dalam pengembangan produk. Pengembangan kemasan yang lebih praktis juga mendukung SDGs 12 tentang Konsumsi dan Produksi yang Bertanggung Jawab melalui upaya pengembangan produk sesuai kebutuhan konsumen.
