Students of bilingual class of Accounting Education UNNES was selected to joining International Workcamp in Macau. Uswatun Hasanah, a student in second semester will do a project with 15 international volunteer from Macau, Jepang, Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, Cambodia, Philippines and some other country from around the world under the theme of “Macau International Workcamp 2017: The Feast of Na-Tcha in the Historic Centre of Macau.”
These 10 days project will be start on 6-16 June 2017 with the funding is from Associacao de Nova Juventude Chinesa de Macau. This year, the focus of the activities is about preserving traditional culture and promoting cultural heritage through sequences of events such as workshop, seminar, press conference, cleaning the city, cultural heritage touring and participate in the cultural pride. Thus, it provides an excellent opportunity for the youth generation to get to know the diverse cultures, experience the unique “East meets west” culture while working with the local community. As the youngest participant in this event, Uswatun has prepared well. In the workshop session, Uswatun will present research about “Jepara Kota Ukir” as one way to preserve local culture and she will perform the traditional dance “Maumere” in the cultural pride.
The project is in line with the university’s vision of conservation value, one of it is cultural preservation. According to Sandy Arief, SPd MSc as Bilingual / International Program Coordinator said that Uswatun will be good unnes ambassador in Macau. She is ready to participate in this activity after following ‘pre-departure orientation’ organized by bilingual / international class team. This success story adds another great achievement made by bilingual / international class students. In early May 2017, Sari Lestari and Puji Novita Sari were selected as the third winner of the Best Paper category at the International Students Discussion Forum 2017 held at SWCU Salatiga. Upon returning from Macau, Uswatun will share her experience on “IUP talks” for all bilingual class students.
