In the prestigious 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, UNNES maintained its 5th position nationally while significantly rising in its international ranking, moving from 37th to 32nd globally.
This prestigious award was personally received by the Head of the UNNES Conservation Sub-Directorate, Prof. Dr. Amin Retnoningsih, M.Si., during the 2024 UI GreenMetric National University Rankings Award Ceremony held on December 17, 2024, at Graha Sanusi Hardjadinata, Dipati Ukur, Bandung. This achievement reflects UNNES’ conservation-oriented commitment to fostering a sustainable environment.
“This accomplishment is not the work of a single individual but the result of the collective hard work of the entire UNNES academic community. We extend our deepest gratitude for the support, dedication, and commitment of all stakeholders. This has enabled UNNES to maintain its position in the national top five and rise to 32nd globally. It is a true embodiment of the conservation campus spirit we uphold together,” said Prof. Amin.
Prof. Amin also emphasized that the journey towards becoming a fully sustainable campus is far from over. UNNES is committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and strengthening its conservation programs to make tangible contributions to creating a greener and more sustainable future.
The Rector of UNNES, Prof. Dr. S. Martono, M.Si., praised this achievement as the result of the academic community’s dedication to implementing sustainable programs across the campus.
“This rise in international rankings shows that our efforts are increasingly recognized globally. UNNES will continue to promote sustainable innovations for a greener future,” said the Rector.
The UI GreenMetric assessment is based on three pillars: environment, economy, and socio-culture, with evaluation indicators weighted as follows: Setting and Infrastructure (15%), Energy and Climate Change (21%), Waste (18%), Water (10%), Transportation (18%), and Education and Research (18%). The 2024 ranking process involved data submission to UI GreenMetric from May 2024 to October 31, 2024.
With its vision of becoming a world-class university and a pioneer of excellence in conservation-oriented education, UNNES continues strengthening its position as an institution committed to addressing environmental issues nationally and globally. This ranking improvement motivates the entire academic community to innovate and contribute toward a greener and more sustainable environment.
