Housing and Dining

Housing and Dining

There are many housing and dining accommodation options to choose from for your home both inside and outside the campus. Our campus provides student dormitory, rooms to rent even a guest house for families of students who come to UNNES.

Student Dormitory (Male)

The dormitory is aimed at accommodating male students from semester 1 to higher levels, with a focus on building soft skills. The cost of living per year is around 2,400,000 IDR, and the student interviewee, Doni Frisy, shares his living experience in the shared facility, mentioning the ease of access he has to his fellow residents’ company. One dorm resident suggests that the management should add more facilities such as catering and laundry services to make the living experience more comfortable and efficient, and notes that a review of the dorm’s amenities and services could help improve the student’s living experience.

International Student Dormitory

The UNNES International Dormitory provides students with comfortable and safe living spaces designed to foster academic and personal growth. The dormitory has hotel-like amenities such as free and paid Wi-Fi services, pantry, canteen, cleaning, laundry, and catering services. The curriculum of the dormitory includes developing diversity, mentality, physical activity, and empathy towards society. Residents must follow rules, such as a curfew and vehicle provisions, to ensure a sense of community and promote activities that instill leadership qualities in students. The regulations emphasize support for each other and maintaining a positive environment, and violations could lead to expulsion. The maximum length of stay is one year, and registration is open for the next academic year.

Student Dormitory (Female)

There are 90 rooms in total, and each room is equipped with a bed, a closet, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. There is also a common room and a library for students. The dormitory also has a security guard and a nurse on duty 24 hours a day. The cost of living, including the cost of boarding and tuition, is per year or per month, whichever is greater. The school also charges for additional activities, such as recreation and meeting rooms. The cost of living for students who live on campus is twice as much as the cost for students who live in dormitories. The school offers special accommodation for students who have activities or who need to stay late at night. There are also specific nighttime hours when activities are allowed. Finally, students must abide by the school’s curfew of 11 PM.

Student Dormitory for Student Exchange (Female)

The YouTube video discussed in this paragraph is part of a series that explores the advantages and disadvantages of staying in an asrama (boarding school) for girls. This particular episode emphasizes the benefits of staying in an asrama, such as the opportunity to meet new friends from all over the country. The video also highlights how staying in an asrama can provide advantages over living with parents, such as gaining a better understanding of the surrounding area.

In a previous episode of Unnes TV, the team visited Asrama Putri 1, and in this episode, they visited Asrama Putri 2 with Doni. Asrama Putri 2 is a new dorm for UNNES students studying in the exchange program, Merdeka. It is a temporary residence for students who are studying at UNNES. There are four rooms in the dorm, and each student gets a room that comes equipped with a bed, a desk, a closet, and a bathroom. There is also a kitchenette in each room. The cost for a semester in the dorm is 1.8 million rupiah or around $160. Additionally, the dorm has maid service, air conditioning, and breakfast included in the cost. Doni inquires about the dorm’s facilities, and the producer, Ratna, explains the jam hours, which are from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. every night. The cost for a one-night stay is 21,000 rupiah.
