In his remarks, UNNES Rector Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman MHum congratulated and encouraged graduates to emulate the attitude and character of the founders of the IKIP Semarang or now Universitas Negeri Semarang.

“Ir Sukarno was one of the figures who had the greatest service in establishing the IKIP Semarang or now Universitas Negeri Semarang. He is an inspiring thinker, a valiant freedom fighter, an intellectual with broad and rich thoughts, a person with superior character, and steadfast in keeping his ideals. Therefore, we who are solemn as students, educational staff, and as lecturers at the Universitas Negeri Semarang are ideological descendants who have a moral obligation to actualize their thoughts,” said the Rector of UNNES.

Prof. Fathur added that Ir Soekarno’s attitude and character could be adapted to the current situation to become a superior and practical person.

Especially during this covid-19 pandemic, Prof. Fathur hopes that graduates can be present in the midst of society as problem solvers.

“We all understand that our society is facing serious challenges due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The data shows that the pandemic has broad implications for various fields of life, including the social and economic fields. In such a situation, I hope that the graduates can be present as problem solvers. With your knowledge and superior character, I believe you can carry out that mandate,” said Prof Fathur.

Furthermore, the Rector of UNNES thanked the parents of students who had trusted UNNES as a place for the learning process, he concluded.
