UNNES–VIA University College Collaboration Strengthens Global Partnership for Sustainable Development

A delegation of students from VIA University College, Denmark, visited the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. The visit underscored both institutions’ efforts to strengthen international collaboration in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

The event, held in the FIPP UNNES Dean’s Meeting Room, was officially opened by Dr. Siti Nuzulia, S.Psi., M.Si., Vice Dean III for Business, Research, and Cooperation. In her remarks, she expressed appreciation for the visit and highlighted its importance in expanding academic perspectives and reinforcing cooperation between the two institutions. The visit formed part of VIA University College’s academic tour program to several faculties at UNNES, including FIPP, reflecting the spirit of SDG 17, which encourages global collaboration in pursuit of shared goals in education and research.

During their visit to FIPP, the Danish students participated in an academic tour designed to showcase various innovative learning facilities, reaffirming UNNES’s commitment to Quality Education (SDG 4). At the Psychology Laboratory, the students explored the use of Virtual Reality (VR) technology in psychology learning, demonstrating strong enthusiasm while engaging with VR simulations used for technology-based assessment and therapeutic activities. Their visit to the library provided insight into the wide range of academic resources available, as well as discussions on information literacy services and the digitalization systems supporting academic activities at UNNES.

The group then visited the Child Development Laboratory, where they were introduced to facilities and tools used to support and assess early childhood development. In the Music Laboratory, the students experienced a cultural session in which they learned about and played the traditional Indonesian musical instrument, the angklung, reflecting their high level of interest and engagement. The tour concluded with a visit to the Smart Classroom, a modern facility designed for interactive learning, academic discussions, and digital-based multipurpose activities.

The event proceeded smoothly and concluded with a joint photo session involving the VIA University College students and the FIPP UNNES leadership. The visit is expected to serve as a strong starting point for long-term academic cooperation between VIA University College and UNNES, particularly within the Faculty of Education and Psychology.

Planned areas of collaboration include student exchange, joint research initiatives, and innovations in global education. Such collaborative efforts not only enrich the academic experience of students but also contribute to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through solid and mutually beneficial international partnerships.
