The Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Semarang, and the Faculty of History, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, agreed to cooperate on the three values of higher education (education, research, and community service).
The agreement has been set out in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in USSH Campus, Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday (28/7). The MoU was signed by the Dean of the Faculty of History USSH, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, Ph.D. dan the Head of the Department of History, Faculty of Social Sciences UNNES, Dr. Hamdan Tri Atmaja, M.Pd.
As a part of Vietnam National University system in Ho Chi Minh, USSH has been established since 1955. Currently, USSH has 28 faculties, one of which is the Faculty of History. USSH also has Faculty of Oriental Studies which organizes the Department of Indonesian Studies.
A group of 18 lecturers and employees as the representatives from the Department of History, Faculty of Social Sciences, UNNES was welcomed by the Vice Rector of USSA Nguyen Khac Canh. He expected that UNNES would become a strategic partner in building understanding across the South East Asian nations in response to the ASEAN Economic Community. In the introduction section, USSH’s representatives expressed their appreciation towards UNNES’ vision as a conservation university presented by Dr. YYFR Sunardjan.
After the MoU signing, both parties discussed the details of the cooperation which resulted on three main pints. Firstly, both parties agreed to strengthen their joint research in a form of comparative history between Indonesia and Vietnam. Secondly, both parties agreed to conduct visiting lecturers as an attempt to enhance human resource quality. Lastly, both parties agreed to enhance the quality of scientific publication, especially in making Paramita an internationally accredited journal.
