The Faculty of Education and Psychology (FIPP), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), conducted an academic visit under the Visiting Researcher Program at King Abdul Aziz University (KAU), a globally recognized institution ranked 149th in the QS World University Rankings. The visit, carried out on October 28, 2025, aimed to strengthen international research cooperation between the two institutions.
The delegation was led by Farid Ahmadi, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FIPP UNNES, accompanied by research team members Dr. Wulan Aulia Azizah, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Achmad Miftachul ’Ilmi, S.Pd., M.Pd. As part of this initiative, UNNES is collaborating with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Jamal Alyamani of King Abdul Aziz University as the international research partner.
This collaboration integrates Cognitive Load Theory, Virtual Reality (VR) technology, and gamification approaches within an ethnoscience-based learning framework to develop digital learning media that are innovative, interactive, and culturally contextualized.
According to Farid Ahmadi, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D., the partnership aims to advance the development of meaningful, engaging, and culturally relevant learning experiences by leveraging advanced technologies such as Virtual Reality.
The research initiative also demonstrates a strengthened commitment to academic diplomacy between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia, especially in areas related to educational technology and pedagogical innovation.
Furthermore, the collaboration supports the realization of key Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to quality education, technological innovation, and global research partnerships, through the development and application of advanced digital learning media in elementary education and the enhancement of international academic cooperation.
