UNNES Participates in GoTEd+ Week 2026 in Germany, Expanding Global Teacher Education Networks

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) participated in the International Market session of the 5th GoTEd+ Week 2026, hosted by the University of Würzburg, Germany, from 23–26 February 2026.

The event convened higher education institutions from 12 countries that are members of the GoTEd+ (Global Teacher Education) consortium, a multinational collaborative initiative funded by the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst / German Academic Exchange Service) for the 2025–2029 funding period.

UNNES was represented by Dr. rer. nat. Adi Nur Cahyono, M.Pd., Head of the Subdirectorate for Reputation and Cooperation at UNNES and the Person in Charge (PIC) of the GoTEd+ Project at UNNES, along with Muhammad Zuhair Zahid, M.Pd., a lecturer in Mathematics Education at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNNES and a member of the GoTEd+ implementation team at UNNES.

Within UNNES, the programs under the GoTEd+ Project are administered by the Mathematics Cluster of FMIPA UNNES.

During the International Market session, each participating institution presented its academic programs, research initiatives, and opportunities for international collaboration.

Dr. Adi Nur Cahyono emphasized that the forum serves as a strategic platform to strengthen UNNES’s role within the global teacher education network.

“As a consortium member, UNNES reaffirms its commitment to advancing teacher education, strengthening global partnerships, and promoting cross-cultural academic exchange. This forum constitutes a strategic platform to expand networks, disseminate best practices in teacher education, and consolidate collaboration among partner universities across countries,” stated Dr. Adi Nur Cahyono.

GoTEd+ is an international collaborative project focused on strengthening teacher education through the development of global networks, academic mobility, pedagogical innovation, and joint research and publications.

UNNES’s participation in GoTEd+ is the result of collaborative processes that have been established since 2018. The partnership originated from research and academic cooperation between Dr. Adi Nur Cahyono and Prof. Dr. Hans-Stefan Siller in the field of mathematical modelling education, which subsequently expanded into cross-faculty and inter-university collaboration, culminating in membership within the multinational consortium.

UNNES’s participation in GoTEd+ Week 2026 has generated several strategic follow-up initiatives. These include plans for student exchanges from Germany to UNNES in 2026 to undertake teaching internships at UNNES partner schools in Semarang.

In addition, the initiatives encompass faculty mobility to Germany for academic engagements, the establishment of the Germany-Indonesia Mathematics Education Network, and the strengthening of faculty and student exchanges among consortium member countries. Joint research collaboration and co-authored scientific publications have also been identified as key priorities moving forward.

Muhammad Zuhair Zahid further noted that UNNES will ensure that follow-up collaborations are implemented in a structured and impactful manner. Through its active engagement in GoTEd+ Week 2026, UNNES reaffirms its position within the global teacher education network and strengthens its contribution to the advancement of higher education at the international level.

This participation is expected to further consolidate international collaboration and promote the sustainable enhancement of teacher education quality.
