Rector of Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) Prof Dr Fathur Rokhman MHum, signed the MoU of cooperation of education with Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur through Attache of Education and Culture, Prof Dr Ari Purbayanto MSc. The signature of the MoU is the cooperation to improve the quality of educational competence for UNNES’s student. The meeting was attended by the head of Indonesian School in Kuala Lumpur Drs Agustinus Suharto MPd as the testator. Besides the signature of the MoU, on the same occasionwas also signed the MoU between LP3 UNNES with Head of Indonesian School in Kuala Lumpur.
Prof Ari Purbayanto in his speech said that the duties and responsibilities of Attache of Education and Culture of Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur include PAUD services, primary to secondary education, and even public education and universities.
Basic education services are a major concern because of the number of Indonesian children in Malaysia who require basic education services are more than 50,000 children. From those, who have access to education about 35 thousand children. Meanwhile, higher education service is provided to 8000 Indonesian students studying in Malaysia and 1000 Open University students. We also open educational services for the community such as the A, B, C package and Open University (UT) package exam.
Through a newly signed cooperation with UNNES, the Embassy of Kuala Lumpur will be ready to assist and facilitate the implementation of basic and intermediate education cooperation through the implementation of Field Experience Practices (PPL) managed by LP3 UNNES. “Including facilitating cooperation with 5 leading universities in Malaysia (UM, UKM, USM, UPM and UTM) and Malaysian Council of Professions (MPN),” explained Prof Ari.
He added that there is an opportunity for UNNES students who are not only educational faculty to do internship program in KBRI Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, UNNES Rector, Prof Fathur Rokhman expressed his gratitude to the embassy of Kuala Lumpur that provides facilities and opportunities to UNNES to improve education competence through MoU and MoA. Opportunities and international cooperation will be utilized as possible.
This is very important for UNNES in the future can become a university that excel in entering global market.
Rector of UNNES hopes that Prof Ari as Atdikbud is not only a guest lecture but also willing to be a tester in the exam of Graduate students, so that the international experience owned by Prof Ari can be contributed to improve the intellectual competence of UNNES students.
Furthermore, Prof Fathur wishes that Prof Ari as Atdikbud KBRI Kuala Lumpur can take part as a director and referral for UNNES in developing international cooperation with universities in Malaysia and with other countries.
The signing ceremony of the MoU was held at Taman Pesta Kebun Restaurant on Wednesday evening October 11, 2017. The event was attended by the leaders of UNNES, the Postgraduate Director and its staff and the UNNES management staff.
The next day, Atdikbud delivered a Public Lecture in front of 600 UNNES Graduate students. Public lecture to be delivered titled Increased competence of college graduates in the era of MEA through the development of cooperation abroad.
