Three UNNES Students Won Awards in AYIE

 
It was Kristi Dese Imanuel Adi Papa Yohanes (Geography), Arfan Habibi (History), and Rifqi Ilhami (Management) who respectively won the category of Best Idea, Best Speech, and Best Presenter in the series of activities of the ASEAN Youth Initiative Exchange (AYIE) 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The event, which held for three days, from Monday to Wednesday (22-24 / 4) carried the theme “Youth Power and Collaboration Action for Sustainable Future”.
On the first day Muhammad Ammar Naufal (Chairperson of the Malaysian PPI) and Muhammad Iqbal bin Marzuki (Alumni of the Student Volunteer Foundation) presented in the seminar session.
After the seminar session, the AYIE delegation held a discussion with the management of the Malaysian Student Association (PPI) regarding the comparative education available in Indonesia and Malaysia. The official agenda for the first day was closed with a visit to the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
On the second day, the agenda began with volunteering activities at PPWNI Klang, Selangor. The delegates also taught in elementary school which had three classes. Arfan and Kris taught about the insight of the archipelago, the spirit of nationalism, and the cultivation of character, one of which was instilling humanist and caring characters.
The delegates were also divided into 5 teams, who then discussed about creating a project plan after the activity. Team 1, chaired by Kristi Dese, spawned ideas to help advocate health for homeless and beggars in the city of Semarang. In addition to discussing the project plan, delegates were also given the opportunity to present their ideas in the presentation session.
“This is the first experience for us to go abroad, here we learn a lot from fellow delegates, facilitators, and parties involved in this series of events,” Kris said.
Meanwhile, according to Arfan, the most interesting thing about the activities held by the ILEAD Center and the Young Statesman Forum was when teaching at PPWNI Klang.
“When I was teaching, I was very happy. “I feel that there is a pride in being able to teach there although only for a few hours,” said Arfan.
The delegates from several campuses and secondary schools in Indonesia included UNNES, UGM, ITB, UMM, Unsoed, Unila, UMS, Unram, SMAN 17 Plus Palembang, SMAN 1 Sleman, etc.
Then for the facilitators came professional volunteers, UIN Yogyakarta, UGM, Unissula, UNP, Unair, UB, and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
