Two students from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) participated in the Onboarding Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) 2024 event on Tuesday, May 21st, held in the Auditorium, Building D, 2nd Floor, Komplek Kemendikbudristek. This event prepares and sends off IISMA 2024 scholarship recipients to commence their studies at prestigious universities abroad for one semester. IISMA has produced 4,500 alumni since its inception and aims to reach 7,500 alumni from 177 top universities worldwide by the end of this year.
Starting in 2021 with the regular IISMA program, IISMA has since evolved and now includes a variety of programs such as IISMA Regular, IISMA Affirmation, IISMA Co-Funding, IISMA Independent, and IISMA Entrepreneur. The number of scholarship recipients has increased each year, encompassing various types of scholarships including IISMA Regular, IISMA Affirmation, and IISMA Co-Funding.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Nur Qudus, M.T., IPM, Vice-Rector IV for Cooperation, Business, & International Relations, alongside the two IISMA scholarship recipients from UNNES, Olga Julia Pama from the Faculty of Economics and Business (University of Warsaw, Poland) and Muhammad Dylan Hikma Sanjaya from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (University of Szeged, Hungary).
The onboarding ceremony featured the symbolic draping of traditional woven cloth and the pinning of the IISMA badge to the scholarship recipients. Prof. Nur Qudus, representing UNNES, also pinned the IISMA badges on the two UNNES representatives for 2024.
This year, a total of 11 UNNES students received IISMA scholarships, categorized as follows:

Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, M.Sc., expressed his hope that the awardees would fulfill their noble responsibilities as ambassadors, representing the nation positively across the world. He also urged the students to demonstrate their noble character and global competence.
Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, B.A., M.BA, delivered a speech and officially sent off the IISMA awardees. He encouraged the students to be ambassadors who honor Indonesia on the international stage and to use this opportunity to develop their skills and global networks.
“Be like the bending rice plant, seeking the highest knowledge while remaining humble. Use this experience to enhance your skills, adapt to new environments, face challenges with resilience, and never give up. After completing this program, apply the lessons and experiences you have gained to serve and contribute,” Nadiem said in his speech.
Additionally, the event provided an open forum for the 2024 IISMA scholarship recipients to engage with all stakeholders of the IISMA 2024 program, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of its objectives, academic standards, and a clear overview of the IISMA 2024 scholarship scheme.
