Language is the most effective tools of communication to convey ideas, thoughts, means and purposes to others. Besides, Language is also one aspect of culture. Therefore, it is very interesting to learn language as well as to cross culture understanding. For example, Indonesian learn the language and culture of other countries or the opposite that foreigner learn Indonesian language and Indonesian culture.
This matter is the background of the cooperation between the Government of Queensland and Government of Central Java Provincial. This cooperation is realized in the “Teaching Exchange” program which is the exchange of teacher from both countries to learn the Indonesian language and culture. Indonesian teachers who study to Queensland or vice versa.
On this occasion, six Indonesian Language Teachers from Queensland are studying in Indonesia to learn Indonesian language and culture. They are Peta Elise Swan, Kym Hall, Peter Lloyd, Julia Bates, Sumadi, and Simon Brigas.
The teachers will learn about the language, batik and dance for two weeks from 25 September to 5 October 2017 at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). UNNES becomes the trusted institution to tech Indonesian language and culture.
Vice Rector of Planning and Cooperation Affair of UNNES Prof. Dr. YL Sukestiyarno PhD welcomed the group in the Rector Room of UNNES (25/9). Prof. Sukes hopes this activity can improve the relationship and companionship between the two countries. In addition, it can exchange ideas so that can improve the ability of Indonesian teaching better.
This event is also attended by the Vice Dean I of Faculty of Engineering, Head of Public Relation, Head of International Office UNNES, Government of Central Java Provincial, and others officials.
