His thesis on the “Modernization of the Mangkunegaran Administration” was published by Kompas Gramedia in 2016, and his dissertation on “Village Communities under the History of Mangkunegaran Sugarcane Plantations” was published in the book titled Kapitalisme Bumi Putra (2008/LkIS). Together with a team from UGM, UI, UNDIP, and UNS, he studied the nationalization of Dutch companies into Indonesian national companies currently under the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (such as PTPN, PT Pelni Persero, PT Kereta Api Indonesia, etc.), which was documented in the book Sejarah BUMN (2014). As an extension of his research on business history, Wasino has written about the history of Belawan Port, plantation history, tram history, and the history of maritime companies (with KPM becoming PT Pelni). He has also written about the transformation of “de Javasche Bank” into Bank Indonesia in relation to the growth of Semarang city. Additionally, Wasino has developed research on corporate-related health history, namely, Health Services in Tobacco Plantations in Medan during the Dutch colonial period. Besides modern economics, he has also authored works on the history of land ownership in relation to the development of food crops funded by the Toyota Foundation and LIPI (1995/1996). The social aspects he writes about mainly include the history of ethnic interactions between the Chinese and the Javanese in Surakarta, Semarang, Grobogan, and Lasem. His cultural studies extensively cover the exploration of traditional ceremonies in Central Java and the history of batik. His historical research is also applied in his studies on Social Sciences Education related to multiculturalism, civic education, and peace education.
