Biography

Prof. Sri Sumartiningsih, S.Si., M.Kes., Ph.D., AIFO, is an academic and researcher in the field of Exercise Physiology, currently working at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES). She earned her doctoral degree from Chinese Culture University, Taiwan, specializing in exercise physiology, energy metabolism, body adaptation to training, as well as athlete health and performance. With her expertise, she actively contributes to the development of physiology-based training methods aimed at scientifically enhancing athletic performance.

In research, Prof. Sri has published numerous scientific works indexed by Scopus and Web of Science, including her study on the effects of smoking on blood lactate levels. Her research revealed that cigarette smoke increases lactate levels by up to 62%, not due to nicotine but as a result of hypoxia induced by combustion-generated carbon particles. Additionally, she has investigated the effectiveness of the FIFA 11+ warm-up program, which has been proven to improve balance and leg muscle strength in young athletes while reducing injury risk.

Prof. Sri is also actively engaged in various international academic activities. She received the Young Investigator Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to exercise physiology. She has participated in the World Class Professor (WCP) Program, collaborating with global experts to advance sports physiology research in Indonesia. Furthermore, she has been an invited speaker at prestigious scientific forums, including the 9th NIFISA Sports Academy in Japan and the FAOPS conference in Daegu, South Korea. Her active involvement on the international stage highlights her role in developing sports physiology at a global level and fostering networks with fellow researchers.

With her extensive academic and research experience, Prof. Sri Sumartiningsih continues to contribute to the advancement of exercise physiology through innovative research, global collaborations, and academic teaching. She plays a key role in developing physiology-based training methods that enhance the health and performance of athletes and the broader community in Indonesia and beyond.
