Offering Flexibility, UNNES Opens Master and Doctoral Programs By Research

For the first time, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) opened By Research Admission for Doctoral and Master programs. Registration for this program will be open in the Even Semester/2nd Semester of 2023/2024, from December 29th, 2023, to January 26th, 2024.

Six Doctoral and 17 Master programs have been opened in By Research program.

UNNES Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Zaenuri Msi Akt, explained that the program was opened to meet the community’s needs and the demands of the development of science and technology.

According to him, By Research program is held to produce independent scientists who can discover, create, and update science through research activities.

UNNES opened By Research program after considering the potential and resources possessed. In addition to its institutional reputation, the Doctoral and Master programs at UNNES have qualified professors to guide students in the research process.

More Flexible, Quality Maintained

The head of the UNNES Academic and Student Affairs Sub-Directorate, Prof. Dr. Joko Widodo, M.Pd., explained that the program offers flexibility.

According to its purpose, the program orientation is research output through publications or other works. Students do not have to take scheduled lectures as in regular doctoral and master programs.

“The courses are more in guidance with mentors or promoters. As well as this guidance mechanism is also flexible according to the needs and conditions of students with their supervisors. It can be offline or online meetings,” he said.

Even if it is necessary to enter class, it is not mandatory; students only sit in to broaden their horizons on specific topics.

Prof. Joko added that this class will provide many conveniences to students because the thesis and dissertation topics can also be adjusted to the student’s field of work. That way, students can compile proposals, collect data, conduct analysis, and prepare publications from where they work.
