The Physics Study Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Semarang State University (UNNES), conducted a working visit to the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in Serpong, South Tangerang, Banten, on November 6, 2025. The visit was led by Prof. Dr. Masturi, M.Sc., Coordinator of the Physics Study Program, accompanied by Dr. Sunarno, M.Sc., Dr. Ian Yulianti, M.Eng., and Fifin Dewi Ratnasari, M.Sc., from the Physics Study Program’s MBKM team. The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Isnaeni, M.Sc., Head of the BRIN Photonics Research Group, at the BRIN Management Building in Serpong. This meeting served as an important opportunity to strengthen the academic and research partnership between UNNES and BRIN in the areas of student internships, final project writing, and joint mentoring, in line with efforts to support SDGs 4 (Quality Education) and SDGs 17 (Partnership for the Goals).
During the discussion, BRIN expressed its appreciation for the successful collaboration between the two institutions, particularly through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program and joint final project guidance. BRIN also noted that many UNNES Physics alumni have contributed to various BRIN research centers, with some even continuing their studies through the Degree by Research program at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) with BRIN’s collaborative support. Furthermore, BRIN offers an opportunity for UNNES, particularly the Physics Masters Program, to open a research-by-research program with a BRIN research scholarship scheme, as has been implemented at several other partner universities. This opportunity strengthens UNNES’s position as a higher education institution that is adaptive to national and international research dynamics.

After the discussion session, the group was invited to tour several of BRIN’s leading research centers, including the Energy Materials Research Center which focuses on battery development, the Nanoparticle Research Center, and the Physics Characterization Laboratory. This visit was accompanied directly by UNNES Physics alumni who are now pursuing careers as researchers at BRIN, demonstrating the successful synergy between the academic world and national research institutions. Prof. Dr. Masturi, M.Si. expressed his high appreciation to BRIN for the commitment to the partnership that has been established. He emphasized that this collaboration will continue to be expanded in the fields of education, research, and joint innovation, as a concrete manifestation of UNNES’s contribution to quality education (SDGs 4) and sustainable global partnerships (SDGs 17).
