Semarang, December 20, 2024 – On Friday, December 20, 2024, at Building D10 FMIPA Semarang State University, an extraordinary, special event was held, namely KINEMATIKA 2024. KINEMATIKA: Innovative Work on Inclusive Mathematics Education 2024 took the theme “Innovation Without Limits Create Learning Media for Disabilities.” This activity was truly extraordinary, in addition to being attended by 243 students taking the Inclusive Mathematics Education Course and exhibiting 44 Innovative work products, this work exhibition was also attended by the Commissioner of the National Commission on Disabilities (KND), Mrs. Fatimah Asri Mutmainnah.
Dr. Sugiman, B.Sc., M.Si as the Supervising Lecturer in his speech explained that “Kinematics 2024 is a project assignment resulting from the mathematical imagination of students taking the Inclusive Mathematics Education course which is manifested in media and mathematical teaching aids for children with disabilities. According to the theme, students are free to innovate in the development of media and mathematical teaching aids that are not limited by certain types of disabilities, such as blindness, deafness, intellectual disabilities, autism according to their respective imaginations, which ultimately can help children with disabilities learn mathematics, both in special schools (SLB) and inclusive schools. ” Inclusive mathematics learning is the main focus of these students, they are determined to create media/learning teaching aids that provide equal learning opportunities for all children, including children with special needs. The lecturers and assistants for this activity are Dr. Drs. Sugiman, B.Sc., M.Si. Dr. Dra. Emi Pujiastuti, M.Pd., and Vena Agustina, S.Pd., M.Pd. The Inclusive Mathematics Education Innovative Work Exhibition was opened and inaugurated by Dr. Mulyono, M.Si, as the coordinator of the Mathematics Education study program, FMIPA, Semarang State University. The opening was marked by a ribbon cutting witnessed by Mrs. Fatimah Asri, and lecturers in charge of the Inclusive Mathematics Education course. In his remarks, Dr. Mulyono explained that the Mathematics Education Study Program, FMIPA UNNES, in helping to realize equal educational rights for children with disabilities, in addition to having a center for studying mathematics learning for children with disabilities, has also included inclusive mathematics education courses in the curriculum. Dr. Mulyono also expressed his pride in the enthusiasm and hard work of the students and lecturers in charge of the course and also the assistants in creating these innovative products. He also emphasized the importance of developing inclusive education in an increasingly inclusive society. According to him, every child has the potential and right to receive equal and quality education, without exception. KND Commissioner, Mrs. Fatimah Asri Mutmainnah, gave her appreciation and welcomed this work exhibition activity. This activity proves UNNES’ concern in helping friends with disabilities in accessing mathematics education. My job is to take notes and later I will report to the President. Because KND is non-structural and independent and is directly responsible to the President. Mrs. Fatimah reminded the students, hopefully steps like this will be an example for educational institutions in order to improve access and fulfillment of rights for friends with disabilities, so that every child with disabilities has the same opportunity to learn, develop, and achieve their best potential in the world of mathematics and education in general.
The students involved in this activity have produced various innovative products for mathematics learning media, specifically designed for children with disabilities. Through the use of technology and their creativity, these products include various forms, such as interactive game applications, video tutorials, and learning aids that can help children with disabilities understand and master mathematical concepts more easily.
The 2024 Kinematics Degree is a real manifestation of the collaboration and dedication of students and accompanying lecturers in carrying out the mandate of inclusive education. In the development process, they continuously involve related parties, including teachers, parents, experts in the field of inclusive education, and also special schools (SLB). All parties share knowledge, experiences, and views to achieve a common goal, namely providing equal educational rights for children with disabilities.
This Work Degree provides hope for the opening of access and fulfillment of the rights of children with disabilities to receive equal education for all children in this country. Collaboration between academics, students, education practitioners, and other related parties will produce new findings and creative and innovative learning methods. It is hoped that through the continuation of this activity, more and more children with disabilities can learn and develop optimally, according to their potential. In this series of events, students and accompanying lecturers showcased their innovative work to the wider public. These innovative products have been tested on children with disabilities in several SLBs in Central Java. Their response to the learning media presented was very encouraging, their interest in learning mathematics increased. From this activity, we are reminded again of how important inclusive education is in increasing access and fulfillment of equal educational rights for children with disabilities.
