Mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) yang tergabung dalam program KKN GIAT 16 Kesehatan melaksanakan edukasi pengelolaan sampah organik melalui demonstrasi pembuatan eco-enzyme di Balai Desa Sumberjatipohon, Kecamatan Grobogan, Kabupaten Grobogan, pada Senin, 30 Juni 2026. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat tentang pemanfaatan limbah organik rumah tangga menjadi produk ramah lingkungan yang memiliki berbagai manfaat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

Program tersebut dilaksanakan sebagai respons terhadap permasalahan pengelolaan sampah yang masih dihadapi masyarakat. Kebiasaan membuang sampah ke sungai maupun membakar sampah masih ditemukan di sejumlah wilayah sehingga berpotensi menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan. Melalui kegiatan ini, masyarakat diperkenalkan pada alternatif pengelolaan sampah organik yang lebih berkelanjutan dan bermanfaat.

Kegiatan yang diikuti oleh 36 peserta ini diawali dengan penyampaian materi mengenai jenis-jenis sampah, dampaknya terhadap lingkungan, serta pentingnya pengelolaan sampah dari sumbernya. Peserta kemudian mendapatkan penjelasan mengenai eco-enzyme, bahan baku yang digunakan, manfaatnya, serta langkah-langkah pembuatannya.

Tim KKN GIAT 16 Kesehatan yang didampingi oleh Dosen Pengampu Lapangan, Dr. Chita Maharani, S.T., M.Kes., memperagakan secara langsung proses pembuatan eco-enzyme menggunakan limbah organik seperti kulit buah dan sayuran yang difermentasi bersama gula merah dan air. Selain melihat demonstrasi, peserta juga memperoleh berbagai tips agar proses fermentasi dapat dilakukan secara mandiri di rumah.

Salah satu warga Dusun Krajan 1, Santi, mengungkapkan bahwa permasalahan sampah masih menjadi tantangan di lingkungan masyarakat. “Masih ada warga yang membakar sampah, tetapi sebagian besar sampah juga dibuang ke sungai. Kegiatan seperti ini sangat membantu kami memahami cara pengelolaan sampah yang lebih baik,” ujarnya.

Ketua TP-PKK Desa Sumberjatipohon, Rumining, mengapresiasi program yang diberikan mahasiswa UNNES karena memberikan pengetahuan yang dapat diterapkan secara langsung oleh masyarakat. “Demonstrasi eco-enzyme ini sangat bermanfaat bagi ibu-ibu rumah tangga. Materi yang diberikan mudah dipahami sehingga dapat langsung dipraktikkan secara mandiri di rumah,” tuturnya.

Melalui program ini, mahasiswa UNNES tidak hanya memperkenalkan teknologi sederhana pengelolaan sampah organik, tetapi juga mendorong perubahan perilaku masyarakat menuju pola hidup yang lebih ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan mampu membangun kebiasaan pengelolaan sampah berkelanjutan sekaligus mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan di tingkat desa.

Kegiatan ini mendukung Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), khususnya SDG 11 tentang Kota dan Komunitas Berkelanjutan, SDG 12 tentang Konsumsi dan Produksi yang Bertanggung Jawab, serta SDG 13 tentang Penanganan Perubahan Iklim.
