Formation of the UNNES Board of Trustees: A Concrete Contribution to the Advancement of Higher Education

Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) has officially established a Board of Trustees for Education. The board comprises 14 national figures renowned for their extraordinary dedication and commitment to advancing higher education in Indonesia, particularly at UNNES.

On Wednesday, August 7th, at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta, UNNES Rector Prof. Dr. S Martono M.Si. presented Decree No. T/3309/UN37/HK.02/2024 concerning the Board of Trustees to these 14 eminent individuals.

The event was attended by Dr. Hendrar Prihadi, Chair of the UNNES MWA; Dr. Sucipto, Chair of the University Academic Senate (SAU); Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman, Secretary of the MWA; and Prof. Heri Yanto, Ph.D., UNNES Vice Rector II.

According to the decree, the responsibilities of the Universitas Negeri Semarang Board of Trustees for Education include providing educational funding for UNNES students.

Dr. (H.C.) Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, serves as the advisor to the Board of Trustees, with national entrepreneur Gunawan Tjokro, also a UNNES Board of Trustees (MWA) member, appointed as the Chair.

In addition to these leaders, the board includes 12 other prominent national entrepreneurs: Ivan Cokro Saputra (PT Gunanusa Eramandiri, Tbk), Harris Pranatajaya (PT Bumimulia Indah Lestari), Tony T. Hambali (PT Dynaplast), Bachtiar Lasiman (PT Multi Welindo), Igianto Joe (PT Prasidha Aneka Niaga Tbk), Ridwan Rachmat (PT Hartaperindo Sejahtera), Santoso (PT Palm Mas Asri), Maria Elizabeth Juanita (PT Mitrapak Eramandiri), David Atmadja (PT Mayora Tbk), Stefanus Indrajaya (PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk), Jemmy Tamstil (Patria Group), and Azalia (Wings Peduli Foundation).

UNNES Rector Prof. Dr. S Martono M.Si. expressed profound gratitude for the concern and support of the distinguished figures on the Board of Trustees.

The formation of the UNNES Board of Trustees for Education represents a concrete demonstration of societal participation in advancing higher education, particularly at UNNES.

Previously, these 14 figures initiated a fund-raising effort aimed at the university’s development. By Monday, August 5th, they had successfully raised approximately Rp2.2 billion, which will be distributed as scholarships to UNNES students.
