The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) is proud to hold the 5th International Conference on Mathematics, Science, and Education in Denpasar Bali on 8 to 9 October 2018. Different from previous occasions, the annual international conference used to be held in Semarang, currently held in Bali. This decision was taken to increase the attractiveness of this conference for speakers from abroad. This proved effective because this conference succeeded in attracting 313 participants consisting of 292 domestic participants and 20 foreign participants. Participants from abroad come from Malaysia, Japan, Australia, United Kingdom (UK), Singapore and New Zealand.
UNNES Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman MHum said that the FMIPA international conference this time was very special because it was part of the 53rd UNNES Anniversary. In addition, the theme of the Collaborative Research conference on Science, Mathematics, and Education: Its Application As The Development of Sustainable Resources is in accordance with the vision of UNNES to become a conservation-oriented and internationally reputed university. The theme that relies on sustainable resources is part of the realization of UNNES’s efforts in realizing the real conservation insight.
This activity was opened by Dr. Agus Puji Prasetyono Expert Staff of the Minister for Relevance and Productivity. Dr Agus expressed tremendous appreciation for the implementation of this international conference. Dr Agus said that many areas which are the priority of Kemenristekdikti can be shared and refined at this conference. Artificial intelligence and big data is one of the fields that is very interesting for the development of the nation in disruption era.
The Dean of FMIPA Prof. Dr. Zaenuri Mastur stated that the committee deliberately invited the best speakers in their fields. Prof. Dong Fengming from Singapore and Prof. Dominic Reeve from England are the main speakers from abroad, while Prof. Dr. Nengah Suparta and Prof. Dr. Sutikno are the main speakers from within the country.
