Semarang, August 2, 2026 – The Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) Implementation Team of the SGL PGSD Semarang State University (UNNES) once again presented a community empowerment activity through the NGREMBAKA AKSARA program in Podorejo Village, Ngaliyan District, Semarang City. This program is developed through four literacy corners: the Tunas Ngrembaka Literacy Corner for children, the Karya Ngrembaka Literacy Corner for teenagers, the Cakra Ngrembaka Literacy Corner for productive-age individuals, and the Kersa Ngrembaka Literacy Corner for the elderly. On Sunday (August 2nd), activities focused on the Cakra Ngrembaka Literacy Corner and the Kersa Ngrembaka Literacy Corner, held at the Neighborhood Association (RT) 6, Community Association (RW) 12 Hall in Podorejo Village.
Themed “strengthening life skills, edupreneur skills, and family resilience,” the activities were attended by approximately 30 participants, consisting of both productive-age and elderly residents. The simultaneous implementation of the two literacy corners served as a strategy to strengthen cross-generational collaboration while creating a mutually inspiring learning space. Through this approach, participants not only gained knowledge but also skills that can be applied in their daily lives to improve family well-being.
The series of activities began with dementia exercises, or brain exercises, which were enthusiastically participated by the elderly. These exercises are part of a promotive and preventive effort to maintain the physical health and cognitive function of the elderly, ensuring their active and productive lives. The sense of togetherness was further enhanced as the elderly and productive-age participants encouraged each other throughout the activities.
Next, the elderly participants participated in a hands-on activity of making ecoprints on tablecloths using leaves and natural materials as dyes. In addition to developing precision, creativity, and fine motor skills, this training also provides productive skills with both aesthetic and economic value. Ecoprint products are expected to become an environmentally friendly home business opportunity while also supporting family income growth.
Following this, all participants received material on strengthening family resilience delivered by speakers from the Semarang City Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (DP3A). The material emphasized the importance of healthy communication within the family, balanced role distribution, and efforts to create a harmonious, resilient, and prosperous family environment as a foundation for community development.
In closing, the productive-age participants participated in a t-shirt screen-printing training using manual screen printing techniques. Through a practice-based learning method (learning by doing), participants were guided from an introduction to tools and materials to the screen-printing process on fabric. This training is part of the edupreneur skills strengthening program, which is expected to open creative business opportunities and increase community economic independence.
The Head of the PPK Ormawa SGL PGSD UNNES Executive Board, Farid Fikri Khoirul Rasyid, stated that all activities in the NGREMBAKA AKSARA program are designed to address community needs through a literacy and skills-based empowerment approach.
“Through the NGREMBAKA AKSARA Literacy Corner, we not only provide learning activities but also develop life skills, edupreneur skills, and literacy skills that can be applied in everyday life. We hope that the skills acquired by the community will improve family economic well-being, strengthen family resilience, and become a concrete step towards realizing Podorejo Village as a Sustainable Smart Village,” said Farid.
The Head of Neighborhood Association (RW) 12, Podorejo Village, Mrs. Umi, also expressed her appreciation for the implementation of the PPK Ormawa SGL PGSD UNNES program in her area.
“We greatly appreciate and support the PPK Ormawa SGL PGSD UNNES activities because their benefits are truly felt by the community. The programs implemented not only provide knowledge but also equip residents with skills that are beneficial for children, productive-age residents, and the elderly. We hope that activities like this can continue because they can encourage the community to be more creative, productive, and independent,” she said.
Through the implementation of the Cakra Ngrembaka Literacy Corner and Kersa Ngrembaka, the PPK Ormawa SGL PGSD UNNES Team affirms its commitment to building an inclusive and sustainable community empowerment ecosystem. Strengthening health, literacy, skills, edupreneur skills, and family resilience is expected to be the foundation for realizing an intelligent, independent, productive, and empowered community in Podorejo Village.
