Semarang, December 11, 2024 – The Faculty of Education and Psychology at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), through the Counselor Professional Education Program, in collaboration with the Alumni Association (IKA) PPK UNNES, successfully held a series of events comprising a Public Lecture and Counselor Inauguration. With the theme “Enhancing Counselor Competence in Independent Practice,” the event took place in the Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, LPPP UNNES. The activities were divided into two sessions: the morning session from 7:30 to 10:30 AM WIB and the afternoon session from 12:30 to 3:30 PM WIB. Featuring competent speakers, the event aimed to equip participants with essential professional insights and skills for independent counseling practice.
Dr. Wahyu Nanda Eka Saputra, M.Pd., Kons. (Lecturer at UAD and Counselor), discussed the theme “Peaceful Guidance and Counseling” as part of positive peace, promoting true harmony in life. Despha Dendi Irawan, S.Pd., M.Psi., Kons. (Counselor & Founder of Halo Konselor Indonesia), shared experiences and strategies for successfully building digital-based independent counseling practices. Fathur Rahman Bahrinsyah, S.Pd., M.Si. (Secretary-General of PB ABKIN), explored policies and opportunities for developing the counseling profession in Indonesia.
The event began with an opening speech by Edwindha Prafitra Nugraheni, M.Pd., Kons., the Chairperson of the Counselor Professional Education Committee. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of equipping counselors with practical competencies adaptive to society’s needs.
Dr. Wahyu Nanda highlighted the significance of the positive peace approach in counseling, which not only avoids conflict but also promotes balance and harmony. Meanwhile, Despha Dendi Irawan motivated participants to leverage technology in counseling services, making independent practices more accessible and relevant. This event also marked a pivotal moment for the inauguration of new counselors ready to serve society, bringing professionalism and tangible contributions to the field of counseling.
With high enthusiasm from participants, including students, alumni, and practitioners, this activity is expected to serve as a foundation for improving the quality of counseling services in Indonesia. The insights gained are anticipated to empower future counselors in creating peace and well-being across various aspects of life.
