January 29, 2026 — The Undergraduate Program in French Language Education and French Literature, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), conducted a promotional and outreach activity for the New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) at SMAN 1 Comal, Pemalang Regency.

The event, which began at 10:00 a.m. local time, drew enthusiastic participation from Grade XII students. The program opened with welcoming remarks from the Principal of SMAN 1 Comal, who expressed appreciation for the Unnes delegation’s presence and hoped the activity would provide students with a clear overview of their higher education options. This was followed by remarks from the Coordinator of the French Language Education and French Literature Program, who briefly introduced the program profile and highlighted Unnes’ commitment to producing graduates with global competitiveness.

The main session featured a presentation on the technical aspects of the Unnes SPMB registration process and an introduction to the French Language Education and French Literature Program, delivered by Ria Fitrasih, S.Pd., M.Pd. The presentation covered various admission pathways, registration stages, and practical tips to help prospective students prepare optimally for the selection process.

In addition to discussing admission procedures, the session highlighted the program’s key strengths, including its excellent accreditation status, interactive and communicative learning approach, and student involvement in various international-level activities. Participants were also introduced to the achievements and works of both students and lecturers in academic and non-academic fields, reflecting a productive and innovative educational environment within the program.

The outreach team further explained career opportunities for graduates, ranging from educators, translators, and tour guides to careers in diplomacy and the creative industries. Profiles of alumni who have established careers in diverse sectors were also presented, reinforcing the broad employment prospects of graduates from the French Language Education and French Literature Program.

The activity was conducted interactively through a question-and-answer session, allowing students to explore information in greater depth based on their interests. To further boost enthusiasm, the event was enlivened by a quiz with prizes, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

This SPMB outreach activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing inclusive and equitable access to higher education information for secondary school students. It also supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration between higher education institutions and secondary schools to expand learning opportunities and human resource development.

Through this outreach initiative, the French Language Education and French Literature Program at FBS Unnes hopes to provide comprehensive insight for students of SMAN 1 Comal regarding their future study options while encouraging their interest in pursuing higher education at Unnes.
