The Performing Arts Education Program (Sendratasik) of the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), conducted a Study Program Promotion and 2026 Student Admission Outreach on Tuesday, 20 January 2026. The activities were held at the Yogyakarta School of Music (SMM Yogyakarta / SMKN 2 Kasihan) and the Yogyakarta School of Performing Arts (SMKI Yogyakarta / SMKN 1 Kasihan) as part of the university’s strategic efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships and promote academic programs.

The outreach involved lecturers from the Music Education and Dance Education study programs, namely: Antonius Edi Nugroho, S.Pd., M.Pd.; Dr. Irfanda Rizki Harmono Sejati, S.Sn., M.A.; Rimasari Pramesti Putri, S.Pd., M.Pd.; Sestri Indah Pebrianti, S.Pd., M.A.; and Galuh Fatma Hedianti, S.Pd., M.Pd. The activities were also supported by students of the Performing Arts Education Program, including Thalitha Ulima Farah, Gregorius Agung Adi Saputra, and Iklas Adi Pangestu, who actively shared their academic and student life experiences.

Before the outreach sessions, the team held coordination meetings with school principals to strengthen institutional relations. At SMM Yogyakarta, the team was welcomed by Principal Turino, S.Pd., M.Sn., while at SMKI Yogyakarta, the team was received by Principal Agus Suranto, S.Pd., M.Sn. These meetings aimed to foster collaboration and communicate the objectives of the promotion and student-admission outreach activities.

The outreach sessions began with welcoming remarks from the school principals, who expressed appreciation for UNNES’ initiative. They emphasized that the activity provided valuable information for students preparing to pursue higher education, particularly in the field of arts, while also strengthening collaboration between secondary vocational art schools and Universitas Negeri Semarang.

The promotion activities were conducted in parallel: the Music Education team delivered outreach at SMM Yogyakarta, followed by the Dance Education team conducting the session at SMKI Yogyakarta. The sessions included an introduction to UNNES, detailed presentations on study program profiles, curriculum structure, learning outcomes, career prospects, and alums profiles.

In addition, the team delivered comprehensive information on the UNNES 2026 Student Admission process, including admission pathways, requirements, application timelines, and technical guidelines for preparing music and dance portfolios. Students also shared first-hand experiences of the admission process and academic life at UNNES, including strategies for completing undergraduate studies in 3.5 years (7 semesters).

Responding to the implementation of the activity, the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Dr. Eko Raharjo, M.Hum., emphasized the strategic value of such outreach programs.

“Promotional and outreach activities like this directly contribute to the achievement of the university’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI/IKU), particularly in strengthening institutional partnerships, increasing prospective student interest, and enhancing institutional promotion. Through direct engagement with partner schools, UNNES can reach high-potential students more effectively and sustainably,” he stated.

The activities concluded with an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session, reflecting strong enthusiasm from participating students, who raised various questions regarding academic life, admission procedures, and graduate career opportunities.

Through this promotion and student admissions outreach, it is expected that students of SMM Yogyakarta and SMKI Yogyakarta will gain a comprehensive understanding of the Music Education and Dance Education Programs at UNNES, while also supporting the enhancement of institutional performance indicators and UNNES’ ongoing efforts to become a World Class University (WCU).
