Semarang, 30 September 2025 – A total of 4,500 students from the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), participated in the Book Creator certification program held online from 30 September to 7 October 2025. This program represents a strategic step by FBS to enhance students’ digital literacy skills while also supporting the achievement of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) 2, namely, providing students with experiences beyond the regular curriculum through nationally and internationally recognized competency certifications.

The Dean of FBS UNNES, Prof. Dr. Tommi Yuniawan, M.Hum., emphasized that this activity reflects the faculty’s commitment to preparing graduates who are adaptive, creative, and competitive in the digital era. “The Book Creator certification not only equips students with technical skills to produce interactive digital works, but also fosters an innovative and globally oriented learning ecosystem. This is in line with the target of KPI 2 as well as a concrete contribution of FBS to strengthening UNNES’s international reputation,” he stated.

The involvement of thousands of students in this certification program also serves as a support for improving the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and World University Rankings (WUR). Through mastering digital skills and creative literacy, FBS students directly contribute to enhancing the quality of learning, international collaboration, and the social impact of education, key indicators in these global rankings.

The Book Creator certification program presented professional instructors with an applicable approach. Students were guided not only to understand the technical aspects of creating digital books but also to produce real works that can be applied in education, culture, and entrepreneurship. These works will become digital portfolios that strengthen students’ academic as well as professional track records.

The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FBS UNNES, Dr. Eko Raharjo, M.Hum., conveyed that this activity is expected to become a positive catalyst for the faculty’s achievements. “By involving 4,500 students, this certification demonstrates large-scale participation that can enhance the quality and competitiveness of graduates. This is in line with UNNES’s vision as a Conservation-Minded and Internationally Reputable University,” he stated.

Through this program, FBS UNNES is optimistic about producing a generation of educators, artists, and language professionals who excel at the national level and are also recognized internationally. Moving forward, FBS is committed to expanding collaboration with global partners to ensure that students gain increasingly diverse, high-quality, and competitive learning experiences.
