UNNES to Host 2nd International Conference on Education, Languages, Literature, and Arts (ICOELLA) 2025

The Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), is preparing to hold the 2nd International Conference on Education, Languages, Literature, and Arts (ICOELLA) on September 27, 2025. The conference will take place in a hybrid format, combining offline sessions at the Faculty of Languages and Arts UNNES with online participation via Zoom.

Carrying the theme “Excellence in Language, Literature, and the Arts Towards Education and Sustainable Development”, the conference will serve as a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to share ideas and research findings in relation to sustainable development through education, languages, literature, and the arts.

Prof. Dr. Tommi Yuniawan, M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Arts UNNES, will deliver the keynote speech. Several distinguished speakers will also contribute to the conference, including Prof. Hitoshi Nakata (Osaka University, Japan), Dr. Marzelan bin Salleh (Universiti Malaya, Malaysia), Prof. Dr. Yusro Edy Nugroho, M.Hum. (UNNES, Indonesia), and Prof. Dr. I. Bambang Sugiharto (Universitas Parahyangan Bandung, Indonesia).

The subtopics of ICOELLA 2025 cover a wide range of issues such as:

  • Language Education for Sustainable Development
  • Literature and Arts as a Medium for Social and Environmental Advocacy
  • Arts Integration in Education for Holistic Development
  • Preserving Indigenous Languages and Oral Traditions for Cultural Sustainability
  • Digital Literacies and Creative Expression for the Future
  • Interdisciplinary Approaches to Teaching Language, Literature, and the Arts

Selected papers presented at the conference will be published in online proceedings as well as in reputable journals indexed by Scopus and SINTA, including Harmonia, Komunitas, and Lingua.

The conference also reflects UNNES’s commitment to advancing international collaboration and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

ICOELLA 2025 is expected to attract participants from Indonesia and abroad, ranging from postgraduate students and lecturers to general audiences who share an interest in education, language, literature, and the arts.
