Semarang – A total of 6,000 students from the Faculty of Languages and Arts (Fbs) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) are participating in an international certification program through the Coursera online learning platform. The certification program, titled Build a Full Website Using WordPress, is being held simultaneously at the beginning of the odd semester, specifically during the second lecture session. All students across various study programs within the Faculty of Languages and Arts are taking part.

The Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Arts (Fbs) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Prof. Dr. Tommi Yuniawan, M.Hum, stated that this certification program is one of the faculty’s strategic steps to prepare students to meet global competency demands. “Through international certification, students not only gain technology-based learning experience but also receive globally recognized competency recognition,” he said.

This activity aligns with the implementation of the University Main Performance Indicators (IKU PT), specifically the indicator for improving graduate competency through international certification. Furthermore, this initiative also contributes to efforts to improve the World University Rankings (WUR) by providing students with access to world-class learning and strengthening Unnes’s competitiveness on the international stage.

Additionally, this certification program supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education. By providing equal opportunities for all students to master digital skills, the Faculty of Languages and Arts (Fbs) is committed to fostering a generation of young people who are adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive.

Through this program, the Faculty of Languages and Arts (Fbs) at Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes) hopes that students will be able to integrate their knowledge of language, art, and digital technology into various academic and professional practices. In the future, international certifications like this will continue to be expanded and facilitated to become an integral part of the student learning experience.
