Students from the Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) at UNNES have once again achieved a remarkable feat. Demonstrating creativity and social awareness, a team from the Student Representative Council (DPM) of FBS UNNES successfully secured funding for the 2025 Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Dikti Saintek).

The program, titled “Preservation of the ‘Carakaning Nata’ Dance Drama through Social Inclusion for the Sustainability of Lemahireng Village’s Cultural Ritual Tradition,” is led by Hanum Sa’ada Fidaroeni, with Bapak Diyamon Prasandha, S.Pd., M.Pd. as the academic advisor. This project emphasizes the importance of preserving traditional arts through inclusive community participation.

Furthermore, two Student Creativity Program (PKM) teams from FBS UNNES also secured funding from Dikti Saintek for the same year. The first team, led by Raihan Adib Gifari (Javanese Literature Study Program) and mentored by Ibu Rahma Ari Widihastuti, S.Pd., M.A., presented a program titled “Bahas(Aku), Jiwaku: Optimizing Psychological Well-Being through Trigatra Bahasa in Children at the Muawanah Orphanage, Semarang.”

The second team, however, presented an innovative approach to Javanese script literacy for the visually impaired with their project, “Bagong’s Smart: Bridging Literacy of Javanese Script through a Game-Based Challenge with a Traditional Javanese Culinary Theme.” This team was led by Risyfan Taufiq (Javanese Language and Literature Education Study Program) and advised by Ibu Dr. Nur Hanifah Insani, M.Pd.

Professor Dr. Tommi Yuniawan, M.Hum., Dean of FBS UNNES, expressed his appreciation for the students’ achievements.

“These accomplishments reflect the growing innovative spirit of FBS students, which continues to impact society. We are proud that culture, literacy, and social inclusion remain the core foundations of all their work,” the professor stated in Semarang on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Professor Dr. Tommi Yuniawan, M.Hum. added that the faculty is committed to continuously supporting the development of student capacity in addressing contemporary challenges through research and community service.

“This achievement is not only a source of pride for FBS but also a tangible form of the university’s role in realizing the SDGs, particularly in the areas of inclusive education and cultural preservation,” he added.

These student achievements align with UNNES’s commitment as a conservation campus that supports the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). Through activities rooted in arts, language, and local wisdom, FBS students are actively fostering inclusive and sustainable social transformation.

This accomplishment further affirms FBS UNNES’s position as an educational institution actively promoting collaboration between tradition and technology for the advancement of a civilized society. (DHZ)
