On Sunday, June 15, 2025, sixth-semester English Literature students successfully conducted their “GradMap” seminar in the Deanery Hall of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Psychology (FIPP), Universitas Negeri Semarang. The seminar showcased Muhammad Natifianto, S.Psi, a Training Development Specialist and CEO of Genius Semarang, as a speaker.
The seminar, “A Roadmap for Students in Career Planning,” aimed to equip students with early career insights and self-development strategies. Through a practical and inspiring approach, participants were encouraged to recognize their potential and understand the importance of thorough career planning in today’s competitive era.
During his presentation, Muhammad Natifianto emphasized that career preparation shouldn’t wait until after graduation. He explained, “Career planning ideally starts while you’re still a student. Students need to first understand who they are, and only then can they design the career path they want to take.”
The material covered strategic steps in career planning, including crucial preparations before applying for jobs, salary negotiation techniques for new graduates, and a guide for building a career over the next ten years.
Dr. Rahayu Puji Haryanti, Coordinator of the S-1 English Literature Study Program, expressed her hopes during her speech that students would be better prepared to face the challenges of the professional world. “Through this activity, I hope students not only understand the theory of career planning but are also able to directly practice it in their future professional lives,” she stated.
Sania Liu, the Head of the Organizing Committee, conveyed her hope that the event would broaden students’ perspectives on the importance of early career planning.
With over 150 participants, GradMap 2025 proved students’ strong commitment to their career futures. Attendees also praised the event for its relevant, inspiring, and easy-to-understand content. (Ika Rizki Refima Putri/Student Staff Humas FBS)
