Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) held the first online Guest Lecture session with the theme “Pandemic COVID-19 from the Perspective of Linguistic, Literature, and Language Teaching”, Saturday (4/9). This agenda was attended by more than 150 students from the Faculty of Language Arts (FBS) UNNES and the Faculty of Psychology and Education UMS.
This guest lecture is scheduled for 3 sessions during September by presenting speakers from UMS and UNNES. Acting as resource person for the first session (4/9) Dr Tommi Yuniawan MHum, lecturer and researcher from the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature FBS with Assoc Prof Dr Wardatul Akmam Din, lecturer and researcher from UMS.
Dr. Tommi Yuniawan MHum in his presentation conveyed that information transactions were one of the important keys in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. This means that public perceptions of the risks and threats of Covid-19 are also influenced by the information they receive.
Assoc Prof Dr Wardatul welcomed the research idea by presenting the latest research issues that could be raised related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including in terms of language learning. According to him, educators should focus on what they believe to be the most important components to develop themselves in line with their position as teachers.
The guest lecture agenda, which is part of the 2021 UNNES DIPA funding cooperation research, also initiates a collaboration between UNNES and Universiti Malaysia Sabah which will be strengthened by an implementation arrangement between the two parties.
The second session will be held in the second week of September with Assoc speakers Prof Dr Suyansah Swanto (UMS) and Wati Istanti SPd MPd (UNNES). Meanwhile, the third session will be scheduled for the fourth week of September with speakers Datin Nik Zaitun Nik Mohamed (UMS) and Santi Pratiwi Tri Utami SPd MPd (UNNES).
