To support UNNES’ vision in the internationalization year, Faculty of Engineering UNNES established an international cooperation with Kasetsart University, Thailand. Dr. Ir. I Made Sudana, M.Pd., IPM as the Vice Dean of Academics accompanied by Dr. Anis Syamsudin and Dr. Adhi Kusumastuti, PhD signed Minutes of Meeting (MoM) with Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University, Thailand. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University Dr. Peerayuth Carsethicul accompanied by the Chairman of Mechanical Engineering Department, Asst Ptof Propot Kuthong, PhD, Asst Prof. Dr. Kongkiti Phu Savat and Naraphorn Paoprasert from Industrial Engineering.
The signing of MoM contains some points of cooperation, i.e. Research Collaboration, Joint publication, Joint academic programs as workshops and conferences, Keynote speakers in academic programs as general lecture, workshops, and conferences, Possibility of visiting professors and academic staff exchange, Possibility of joint degree programs, student exchanges, and student credit transfer.
In addition, the visit continued to Sattelite Unit on Campus, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Vocational High School in Bangkok, Thailand. The visit led to one of the vocational schools whose student’s background is from poor family and broken home. The most prominent learning method used in the vocational school is learning by doing with emphasis on agriculture and its production to be marketed. The students’ work is to process natural materials around to be products such as candles, hand bodies, antidote, bath soap, bio technology, water fuel, river waste distillation, etc.
Dr. Ir. I Made Sudana M.Pd., IPM also stated that the current lab is not technologically advanced, however, the learning model applied in the school is interesting. It is a combination of project-based learning, teaching factory and production unit. Besides, each student must make a report of their research and its feasibility must be tested directly to the community.
