Check UNNES 2026 Capacity & Number of Applicants

Semarang State University (UNNES), as a higher education institution that has achieved Excellent Accreditation, is once again opening opportunities for the nation’s best sons and daughters to join the academic community.

This year, UNNES has set a total capacity of 12,470 seats for new students. This figure reflects UNNES’ commitment to expanding access to quality education. Based on applicable regulations, the allocation of seats at UNNES is divided into three main channels:

1. SNBP (National Selection Based on Achievement)

Quota Allocation: 2,736 seats (22% of total capacity).

This channel is the first gateway dedicated to 12th grade students with consistent academic achievements. This selection is based entirely on academic records without written tests. Assessment is based on semester 1 to 5 report card grades, academic/non-academic achievements (such as championship certificates), and the performance record of the student’s school of origin (School Index). Only eligible students can apply.

2. SNBT (National Selection Based on Tests)

Quota Allocation: 3,818 seats (31% of total capacity).

SNBT is a more open selection pathway. It is not only for 2026 graduates, but also for graduates from the previous two years (2024 and 2025) and package C. In this pathway, participants are required to take the Computer-Based Written Test (UTBK). The test materials include:

  • Scholastic Potential Test (TPS): Cognitive abilities, logic, and reading comprehension.
  • Literacy: Indonesian and English.
  • Mathematical Reasoning.

3. Independent Selection (SM-UNNES)

Quota Allocation: 5,916 seats (47% of total capacity).

This pathway is managed autonomously by Semarang State University. SM-UNNES offers flexibility with the most varied selection methods and the largest quota.

a. Independent Achievement Selection (SM-Prestasi)

This is intended for students who have outstanding achievements (provincial/national/international champions) in sports, arts, science, or religion (such as Hafidz Qur’an). This selection usually does not involve written tests, but rather portfolio document validation and interviews/skills tests.

b. Regular Independent Selection (Computer-Based Test)

This is an independent pathway through a written test organized by UNNES. The exam is conducted using computers (CBT).

Test locations are usually available at the UNNES Campus (Offline) or Online (from the participant’s domicile) to reach participants from outside the province.

c. Independent Selection Based on UTBK Scores

This pathway does not require a retest. Participants only need to register using their 2026 UTBK-SNBT score certificate. UNNES will rank participants based on these scores. This is a strategic option for participants with high UTBK scores who have not yet passed the SNBT.

d. International Class (International Undergraduate Program)

A special pathway for prospective students interested in international-class study programs with English as the medium of instruction and opportunities for global exposure (such as student exchange or double degrees).
