Becoming the Webinar Speaker at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington, Rector of UNNES Emphasizes the Importance of Growth Leadership Against Covid-19

Rector of UNNES, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Prof. Dr. Fathur Rokhman MHum became the speaker in a webinar organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Washington DC, United States on Wednesday (19/8).

In the activity entitled Bincang Karya (BIANKA), Prof. Fathur presented the topic “Growing Leadership for Capacity Building of Higher Education in the New Normal and Academic Acceleration of Independent Campus”.

According to that Sociolinguistic Expert, during a pandemic like this time, a leadership model that is capable of linking various situations through various variables and resources is needed in order to continue to develop capacity in the realm of education.

“Capacity building and even academic slowness can be overcome through proper leadership. The key is leadership,” said Prof. Fathur.

The Head of Community Service for the Indonesian State Higher Education Chancellors Council (MRPTNI) highlighted the importance of implementing growth leadership in fighting the spread of Covid-19.

“The concept of growth leadership is awareness, commitment and competence to foster a leadership calling. Because we are all leaders with a big vision for change. We all have to stay productive in fighting Covid-19. And the bottom line is we’re calm, we’re healthy. Without being calm, without being healthy we cannot be productive against Covid-19, “explained Prof. Fathur.

Apart from Prof. Fathur, also attended as the initiator of the webinar, Head of the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) Service Division, Ratna Prabandari.

The activity with the theme “Emotional Intelligence in US Higher Education” was opened by the Education and Cultural Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington DC, United States, Prof. Popy Rufaidah, by presenting opening speeches from the Association Dean, Faculty Affairs, CEHD, Texas A&M University Prof. Fredrick M Nafukho and Associate Professor, HE & Student Affairs, The Ohio State University Tatiana Suspitsyna PhD.
