Tanjungpinang, Tuesday February 10, 2026 — Located in the meeting room of Hotel CK Tanjungpinang, Universitas Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH) as one of the new partners of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia Bandung hosted the LUPIC Consortium Semi-Annual Meeting and Report of 3rd year goals which was held on February 10, 2026 at Hotel CK Tanjungpinang, Bintan Island, Riau Islands. This activity brought together partners who are members of LUPIC, i.e., Sogang University Korea with partners from Indonesia, i.e., Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) along with new partners of the three institutions. This semi-annual meeting activity was not only as a occasion for performance reports, evaluations, and reflections on LUPIC programs held in 2025, but also in order to strengthen cross-country academic cooperation.

This strategic meeting was attended by a team from Sogang University (South Korea) i.e., Dr. Sun Yeoul Lee and Mr. Sung Min Kim, a team from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) i.e., Prof. Dr. Woro Sumarni, M.Si., Cepi Kurniawan, Ph.D., and Dr. Dimas Gilang Ramadhani, M.Pd, a team from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) i.e., Prof. Dr. R. Asep Kadarohman, M.Si., Dr. Trianisa Rahmawati, and Rosi Oktiani, a team from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) i.e., Prof. Dr. I Wayan Muderawan, Ni Putu Sri Ayuni, Rahmadhani, as well as new partners from the three institutions i.e., UMRAH as the host, Universitas Negeri Lampung, Universitas Mataram Lombok, Universitas Nusa Cendana Kupang, Universitas Islam Negeri Antasari Banjarmasin, and Universitas Negeri Manado. The presence of these new partners marks the expansion of an increasingly solid and sustainable academic collaboration network.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UMRAH, Dr. Drs. Encik Abduhajar, M.M., as the host. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for the trust given to UMRAH as the host for the meeting and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in improving the quality of education, research, and community service. “Global collaborations such as LUPIC are a strategic platform for sharing good practices, strengthening institutional capacity, and encouraging learning innovations that are relevant to the challenges of the 21st century,” he said.

PThe presentation of the achievement report of LUPIC programs throughout 2025 was also performed in this event. In the report, various collaborative activities that have been implemented and performance achievements throughout 2025 were presented. Dr. Sunny and Dr. Kim provided an evaluation of the performance achievements of the three institutions. This forum also became a momentum for evaluating the ongoing program as well as formulating a strategic plan for 2026, including strengthening collaborative networks with new partner universities and developing a more inclusive academic mobility program. Through this Semi-Annual Meeting, the partners committed to continuing to strengthen synergies and expand the impact of international cooperation, not only in the academic aspect but also in developing institutional capacity and contributing to the development of sustainable education.

Bintan Island itself, where the venue of the event located, also provided a unique cultural experience for participants, while also introducing the potential of the Riau Islands region as part of the maritime education ecosystem and an international strategic region. With a spirit of collaboration and sustainability, LUPIC is expected to increasingly become a model for productive international partnerships with a tangible impact on the development of higher education in Indonesia and globally.
